Good morning...seeing that pic of Death Valley reminded me of the time, when I was a teen, we drove across Death Valley in mid-summer...man, it was just toooo hot for me...what a miserable trek that was...I guess the best time to see and do Death Valley is in the winter, when its not so blistering hot...
A week after we returned to Chicago from our western trip, a couple of guys got off the road in Death Valley, and then their car broke down...so they all got out of the car, and started walking in different directions to find help...they never did get help...they were reported missing, the park rangers went out looking, and found all three in different places, dead, and burnt black by the baking sun...they should have stayed put in their car...

good news!
yesterday I emailed my mom asking for loan to fix that tooth
(dentist wants $1400)
I didn't want to start the work on it till I knew I had money to pay for it
Mom said of course she wants tooth fixed
and is sending me the dough for it
I can't exactly jump up and make appointment for root canal
(first step in process)
but before I go swimmin' I will call
it is big relief for me

You're mellow and all chilled out, hepcat Palo??
Do you think an acceleration of cosmic proportions moved that rock in Death Valley??;-)
To: andysandmikesmom
hi cookie
I too drove 'cross death valley on trip out west when I was young
with no ac in car
I remember how thirsty I got
each time we stopped I ordered more and more bigger drinks
those sunsets were beautiful tho
I had never been out west before
I fell in love with west then
I remember stopping so I could swim in Colorado River
what a joy that was
I dreamed back then I would move to that town by River
now I have no idea where it was
I am in love with my beautiful desert tho

Many years later, after I had left home and got married, my parents took a vacation out west by themselves...but they went in the fall...and they drove across Death Valley in the later fall, and said it was completely different from Death Valley in the summer....it was much cooler, and just beautiful and they were able to enjoy it...
Altho the National Park Service does not prevent people from driving across Death Valley in the summer, they do try to discourage it...the real tourist season for Death Valley is actually October-May, the exact reverse of the way it is with most other National Parks, which have their tourist season exactly opposite...May-October...
To: palo verde
You have a good mama, wanting to help out the Palo, to get her tooth fixed...be good to that mama of yours...she sounds like a sweet lady...
To: habs4ever
I don't think the wind put it there
seems we used to have the ability to move heavy boulders by sound
I don't know why those beautiful rocks are there
my hunch is it's a landin' spot for ET ships
and rocks mark the spot
especially if someone was coming to greet the ship
it would serve as landmark
Love, Palo
To: andysandmikesmom
thanks andysmom
yes my mom is darling girl
it takes so little to make her happy, and I love making her happy
