Seeing y'all talking about cowgirl outfits 'n such.....I was the only granddaughter (5 grandsons) for 11 years. My Grandpa Taylor spoiled me rotten....one Christmas he got me a complete little cowgirl outfit...alll in red and white....and I got to ride in his taxicab to the shoe store where he bought me a pair of RED cowgirl boots.
Come Christmas Eve, he passed out shiny silver dollars to the boys......and then all hell broke loose--I wanted one, too...you see, and NO was not a word I had ever heard him say.....so I just pitched a right proper little whindig, flailing my arms and legs--so mad, I took those little red boots off and threw them.
Next thing you know--it was sort of like a whirlwind came flying through Grandma's kitchen, snatched me up, and made my little tush as red as the little outfit I was wearing!!
And then, I was made to go sit in one of the bedrooms--all by myself AND without my little red boots--until I could see the errors of my way.
I don't know who was more heart-broken--my Grandpa or me. Later, I overheard Grandpa asking my Mom, his only daughter, why he couldn't give me one of those shiny dollars, too!!!
So far as I know or remember, that is the ONE AND ONLY TIME I ever pulled anything like that--I was about 6 years old. I literally wore those little red boots out.....red is still my favorite color.

I did get a BB gun after I cried about it. LOL I had it for years and finally gave it to a dear friend who lived on a house boat on the river. He had one too and we'd sit out on the deck and shoot beer and coke cans off the railings. LOL. The greenies would have been very mad at us.

"Damm. Did you tell Santa you wanted a RedRyder? "
No, I hadn't asked for one but when the boys all got theirs, they behaved very condescendingly, they felt superior to me their little old girl cousin. My Grandfather took me shopping for one the next week and put a stop to that stuff. LOL. He was so wonderful.

By the time I was old enough to have a BB gun, I really didn't want one. Of course, now I can buy what I like (within reason) and I'm getting together a nice little collection. :)

" He had one too and we'd sit out on the deck and shoot beer and coke cans off the railings. LOL. The greenies would have been very mad at us." Why is that? Are beer and coke cans "endangered in your neck of the woods?

Ah, it's probably just as well, all you friends at home would have been so jealous. If it's any consolation to you, it's cold all along the Gulf Coast tonight too. It's supposed to be in the mid 30's here.

Ah! A true gentleman! We are an endagered species, the gentleman. Becoming fewer and further between with the passage of time.
Be that as it may, we will still honor our obligation to look after the ladies.
And as fer havin' Miss Valerie's backside, that ain't nobody's business.;-)
To: sweetliberty
No, no shortage but the cans ended up at the bottom of the river.

That's very chivalrous. You won't be needing charm lessons from the master himself, catpuppy.

grrrr is right... I wish they'd stop messing with it. Change is fine, endless change is somewhat perplexing. LOL I'm beginning to feel like a lab experiment.

Yes, Darlin', it was getting chilly on the coast when I left at 4AM today. This afternoon and evening I have had a roaring fire in the fireplace; yesterday I was enjoying warmth like only the beach can provide.
To: catpuppy
Ooooh, got a fire going, that sounds mighty nice too. :)
