We were just makin' a joke about Jen sliding into darkness that is sneaking. That's all. As the the holder of the current spam-record, you get the honor of the hardest ribbing on the subject!

Really.... haven't heard of Peace Like a River... But I will pick it up and check it out based on that comparison.
When I went to my brother's house in Gig Harbor yesterday, there were big wooden signs everywhere with an Old Norwegian pointing with his fish and the words "Lutefisk - This way!"
That can only mean one thing. The annual Lutefisk dinner at the Lutheran Church!
To: JenB
I don't think so! - How are you feeling?
To: HairOfTheDog
Should have said: But I will pick it up and check it out based on that comparison to Garrison!

Well, my overall day has been "woozy". We had this stupid thing at my brother's school and I had to help clear tables and it was horrible - too many people. I don't mind the special needs kids who are really special needs, but the ones who are borderline psychotic get to me.
And I'm just feeling drained. Why does tomorrow have to be Monday?

Why does tomorrow have to be Monday? I argued against the idea, but I was over-ruled.
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh. Well, then I suppose I'd best make what I can of it.

Yeah.... I have to go to Seattle tomorrow. We all have troubles! - I got my Fiddler on the Roof DVD back from my brother, so as soon as it is time to tuck ponies in, I am gonna go watch that. Maybe I will fall asleep before the story turns sad.
I left my FoTR up there for my brother... I figured I wouldn't need it any more! I am FoTR-less... feel a little naked.

I am reading some weird stories. I'm not sure they're helping my bemused condition. Perhaps I should turn in.

It has been a slow two days in the Hobbit Hole, hasn't it?
Last night, my daughter and I got to see the boys choir that sang on the FoTR soundtrack. They are the London Oratory School Schola and were singing in Worcester. They did Church music written by British composers, and they were wonderful! If you closed your eyes, you'd swear you were listening to angels. I don't know if the boy who did the solos on the Soundtrack was there last night. He's probably not one of the boy sopranos anymore; they have a short 'shelf life' before they move into puberty and their voices change. But there were plenty of other voices; altos, tenors and basses. There are 20 young boys from the school who form the higher voices of the Schola, then the older boys sing the lower parts, with a couple of older (late 20s and 30s)professional singers in there as well.

Perhaps I should turn in.Like entropy?
;~D - Good night!
To: SuziQ
Sounds neat Suzi! - But they didn't do the song from FoTR... just other selections? Glad you had a good time there!
To: HairOfTheDog
Nah, we were hoping they'd do it as an encore, but no dice. But now when we listen to the soundtrack, we can pick them out on other pieces besides "In Dreams" because we know what they sound like!
They have a Christmas CD. I didn't find it on Amazon, but on a website I found when I did a search for the Schola. I'll have to order it because I'm sure they WILL sound like angels on it! I love Christmas music, and usually start listening to my CD's between Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Hi all. Back from reunion then rehearsal at church until 10:30 p.m., so I'm not here long.
Just wanted to let you know family is okay, but this was was just too darn close. My brother works in Hanover County and his office is at the next exit from the Ashland exit where the shooting was. He has gift certificates at that restaurant (we've eaten there too). A friend from church teaches ice skating just around the corner.
It's just bizarre.
Yesterday many of the Nothern Virginia high school football teams were playing in our area. They all moved their games 2-3 hours away and told only parents and players. A neighbor's nephew was playing at a field near where this shooting was.
Schools here in Richmond and the three surrounding counties are closed tomorrow. I kinda think that's a little excessive. Supposedly it's so the "superintendents can meet and decide what to do." Seems to me they should have been meeting today...
In other Stormhands news...Jr. broke his finger at the football game yesterday. He'll be fine, but it was on the second or third play of the game. We're investigating it though because he says the kid pulled his finger (get over it g'nad) in two plays and did it intentionally.
They only have one more game, but he's out. And he's out if they end up in the playoffs.
Okay, gotta go for now, I'll check in tomorrow...
To: Corin Stormhands
Glad you are OK! - It would be scary to have it happen that close... Of course, I would be freaked just to be on that side of the Mississippi. From way over here, they all look close to my Hobbit Hole friends.
Quite seriously, be on your guard!
Sorry for Corin that he is down for the season... I think next season seems like an eternity away for a kid. But why did Corin Jr. give this same guy the finger twice? [ducking]
To: g'nad
Hey! Glad to hear everything is ok with you. We were in our hotel room in Branson when we heard about it. Sounds like the guy left another message. I hope they get him.
To: Corin Stormhands
Glad you reported in as well. You guys were foremost on my mind when I saw how close it was.

Update. Last Thursday the boys and I went with my mom and dad to take the poodle back to the vet. She still wasn't eating and had stopped drinking and wasn't urinating anymore. The boys and I basically loved on the pooch and I had a feeling we were saying goodbye. They kept her overnight and ran some tests to see if perhaps she just had a bacterial infection, something treatable, and found she was in kidney failure. They wanted to see if they could reverse it and told my mom and dad to come back on Sat to decide what to do. The next day the vet said they had pretty much corrected the kidney failure but that problems had caused severe brain damage. My mom and dad held that dear dog for a long time and when it went to sleep in my mother's arms, the vet gently put it to sleep forever. We are all very very sad, but peaceful.
