Update. Last Thursday the boys and I went with my mom and dad to take the poodle back to the vet. She still wasn't eating and had stopped drinking and wasn't urinating anymore. The boys and I basically loved on the pooch and I had a feeling we were saying goodbye. They kept her overnight and ran some tests to see if perhaps she just had a bacterial infection, something treatable, and found she was in kidney failure. They wanted to see if they could reverse it and told my mom and dad to come back on Sat to decide what to do. The next day the vet said they had pretty much corrected the kidney failure but that problems had caused severe brain damage. My mom and dad held that dear dog for a long time and when it went to sleep in my mother's arms, the vet gently put it to sleep forever. We are all very very sad, but peaceful.

Glad you are at peace... I hope your mom is also. If we could all go while asleep in loving arms after a full life we would be lucky indeed.
I spent a long time today thinking about my Logan. It won't be a long time, I think. God bless old dogs! They tear at our hearts...
