Nah, I was refering to them letting the Dwarves and Bilbo escape, and then not learning from that error and letting Gollum escape.

Smeagol escaped from their care... that's one of the reason Legolas came to the Council of Elrond to report the escape to Gandalf and Aragorn.

By the way, JenB also made up the Smeagol fan club password...

Fine... Carton is going to the grocery store and will see you tonight at the meeting. (Remember, you are speaking about the "Virtues of Being Smeagol". The buzz is it should be a full house.)

Look at this for smeagol:

According to the Red Book of Westmarch, In Middle-earth, smeagol was a Illiterate Longbeard

Elven Name Possibilities for smeagol
The root name suitable for feminine and masculine is: Nurbor
Another masculine version is: Nurborion
More feminine versions are:
Nurboriel
Nurborien
Nurborwen

Hobbit lad name for smeagol Rudigar Brandybuck from Buckland
Hobbit lass name for smeagol Primrose Brandybuck from Buckland

Dwarven Name for smeagol Ori Stormbow

Orkish Name for smeagol Urkuk the One-eyed

Smeagol gets to be related to Pippin!

I had forgotten about those bits. Although as I recall the vaunted elves of Lothlorien weren't able to do much with Gollum either, so I don't see how the Mirkwoodians can be held THAT much to blame. ;^)

I especially like the 01's and the 51's. It's a fresh start with no cumbersome graphics (not that I mind them). But by the time we've gone through 50 posts...I'm ready for a clean slate!

It's Merry who's the Brandybuck.

Be meaner... I know you can do it...

Okay...The Mirkwood Elves couldn't guard a tube of toothpaste!

Is that better or should I use the cheese-eating moniker?

And they let Sauron escape! Hope that they aren't the ones guarding Robert Blake in LA -- you might as well hand an inmate the keys as expect the Mirkwood elves to keep them locked up! I guess the only responsible Mirkwood Elf was Legolas, so naturally he wants to go to the Greyhavens and ship out.

They weren't in charge of Sauron! The Mirkwood Elves were moriquendi, hardly up to the task of dealing with an evil Maiar.

OT, I was in class. A three hour lecture on fascism and communism. In another hour and some I have a massive pain in the neck building meeting to attend. This is your only warning: do not mess with the Elves. I will not be liable else.
