I hope you wrote it down before you forget it!

Forget what? (yeah, I wrote it down!)

hehehe! I have always poured old coffee on plants, and I scatter the grounds in the yard.

Never have poured sugary drinks on 'em though. Something to keep in mind for emergencies!

I am out of bread for toast. Rats! need to go to the corner grocer. BRB

Earthworms like coffee and coffee grounds too.

My Mother-in-law always puts her coffee grounds around her plants. Her hydrangeas are still living. The one I planted in May for the Mrs. isn't...

I am out of bread for toast.

The morning drive time DJs in DC (several years ago) used to give that as the weather report.

When it was going to snow, all they would say is "Bread, Milk, Toilet Paper..." and people knew what they meant.

I wouldn't pour a sugary drink on an indoor plant, but plain coffee or unsweetened tea, I would!

I don't think a sugary drink would hurt CS's mailbox plant, though...it didn't bother our potted plants. We never saw an ant...

Stale beer does good too...Steve's "last beer of the night" used to be at least half full the next morning, so I always poured it in the hanging plants!

Leftover beer? You mean there is such a thing?

Sugary drinks go in the compost pile.

What? You actually let beer go stale at your house?

If you don't finish it, pour it in a plant. Seems to be the advice of the day.

So I've noticed!

We're lucky this year...have had quite a bit of rain. However, last year was VERY dry. I was in the process of buying my house and therefore staying with my parents, and their well went completely dry. (No need for government water retrictions in rural VT!) I got used to washing my hair in a bowl of bottled / begged-for water. I REALLY appreciated the shower in my new house when I moved in!

I don't advise anyone to bathe in coffee, however, antioxidants or not.

Yeah. He'd polish off a 12-pack over the course of the evening, then pass out leaving the last can about half full. (Or half empty, in his mind I would guess!)

First, he'd bolt all the doors really securely from the inside so that nobody could possibly get in, then he'd pass out in his underwear with every light in the house on. Then I'd come in from work about midnight and bang and bang on the doors trying to get in, to no avail. Fortunately he always left the windows wide open.

LOL! This was years ago...long before Matthew was born.

LOL! He's very proud that he quit. It's part of his testimony. I was the one that suggested he quit, and that if he didn't, that was ok...but I wasn't bringing a third person into the situation. He quit immediately and has never touched the stuff since.

Good for him. Good for both of you. He was obviously having more than just a pint or two after work...

Here's a funny little story:

In our family (not saying this is how it should be in every family) Steve and I are very firm already with alcohol consumption. Steve's entire family are alcoholics, either active or "recovering". So, we already tell the boys "We do not drink alcohol." We say this repeatedly, so if they grow up and drink alcohol and become alcoholics or wrap themselves around trees like BOTH of Steve's brothers, well, it's not because we didn't tell them not to drink alcohol!

Here's the funny part. The other day, I had a wound on my hand and was cleaning it with...you guessed it...alcohol! Joshua came in and said "What is that?" and I unthinkingly said "Alcohol". He said "We do not drink alcohol." I laughed but then thought...well, we don't drink this alcohol either and agreed with him!

I think I've told this here before. My dad was an alcoholic. He eventually quit because he knew it was going to kill him (it's a long story). But because of that, and because the church said "it's a bad thing," I didn't really drink in high school (a couple of binges, then I made a serious commitment to the Lord). I went to a Christian Holiness College, so we didn't drink there either.

When I started volunteering/working on a local Congressional race, well that's just what we did every night. In a weird sense, that's what God used to get me out of a very bad (I call it a cult) church situation (we'll sit down and I'll tell you the whole story at Entmoot).

For a couple of years, I was kinda careless. And when we first got married and lived in DC we had a lot of alcohol. But I made some rules for myself: never drink alone, never drink because I need a drink.

I like beer and I like wine. But I never get to the point of drunk anymore, 'cause after one or two I'm ready for a nap.

But if I went back to work for the college or if I end up in some other ministry type situation where it's frowned upon or not allowed, I wouldn't consider that a major loss.

I quit when Steve quit. I didn't like it that much anyway and it was just like tossing something in the trash. I never even think about it.

Now I quit smoking in 1985. I smoked 3 packs a day. I nearly had a breakdown when I quit cold turkey. But it's the only way to do it, in my opinion. Nobody was more addicted than I was and I quit. To this day, I long for a cigerette. But I will never touch them again. Every day, I tell myself that.

Okay, for the opening session at Entmoot, everybody should dress in the style of clothing they wore when they first read The Lord of the Rings.

I'm sure I could find the bell-bottom jeans, but I'm not so sure about the platform shoes. And there is the Polyester Crisis to think about...

LOL! I was 12 years old the first time I read it! I don't even remember what kind of things I wore back then!

I didn't drink beer. I drank cuba libre's (sp?)

When you think of me, think of the 4th of July picture...that's me now and I happiest this way.
