Hi Penny1. I got the download completed but apparently the break in the transfer early in the process, which I resumed, caused it to flub up the rest of the transfer, because when I hit PLAY, it played only until the same part where the first transfer broke. I will try Imaldris.net and will retry the link you provided (after deleting the first file transfer), if Imaldris doesn't work on my PC.
Depending on which download utility you use, you should be able to resume a broken transfer w/o the bad effect I experirenced. I had used RealPlayer with a FileHound zip. In the RealPlayer drop-down menu, I think under FILE, there is an option to RESUME the transfer. Every download utility should have a similar feature somewhere on its skin. Just try the different features till you hit the right combination.

I use the shareware utility Flashget, which is fast, and allows resuming an interrupted transfer, for information go to http://www.amazesoft.com/

FYI, I'm pinging you two to #1761 and #1762, in case you're both still trying to download the trailer....
If anyone wants an address to download it from, try Imladris.net or ask me for a second one and I will freepmail you with the addy where I have it located. I just don't want to post the link publicly in case too many people try to access it and it crashes my site. (Well, and I'd like to NOT have the Web Police shut me down. ;) )

It's a good question, but Tolkien said quite clearly that Sauron did take the Ring to Numenor. I think he hid it from Ar-Pharazon, who was so proud and sure of himself that he never thought Sauron might be playing him for a fool. You're right that when Sauron turned into a spirit, it should have been difficult for him to keep the Ring, but somehow he managed. Perhaps the Ring itself had something to do with that. Doubtless the Ring helped him take a new body and recover strength so quickly; a hundred years after the Downfall of Numenor, versus three thousand after he lost the Ring.

Tolkien said quite clearly that Sauron did take the Ring to Numenor. Where? I don't remember that.
To: Restorer
Probably in one of the Letters; I don't remember exactly where but I know, I'm absolutely certain, that he said it.

Probably in one of the Letters; I know what I'm reading when I get home this evening. :)
To: Overtaxed
Hehehe - I wish I had my copy here, instead of at home, because I'd find the reference right off. Maybe I can find something anyway...

I've got FOTR with me today...left Letters at home. It gets awful tiring lugging whole (dead tree) libraries around.
To: Overtaxed
Do they make books on disk? It would be nice to be able to thumb through chapters of a disk...page by page.
I don't even know if there is such a thing.
To: 2Jedismom
I would guess that they do although I don't own any books on disks. Reading a lot of text from a screen hurts my eyes.
To: Overtaxed
And you've been following our activities in the Hobbit Hole for how long? Reading off the screen hurts your eyes? Maybe you need a new monitor... what sort do you have? An LCD will cut down on the headaches considerably.

Good morning!
I didn't think about eye strain. That would probably be a problem. But the word search feature would be nice, when you're looking for a particular passage...and then being able to copy and paste (with appropriate reference to the author) would be good too!
Don't they already have The Hobbit on eText? Didn't ecurbh post that some where?
To: JenB
Reading off the screen hurts your eyes? Reading short posts one at a time is no problem. Staring at the screen to read whole pages and chapters is (my eyes hurt and get all red.) Plus my monitor at work is backlit by a nice picture window.

Since I'm not sure of the legality of sharing E-texts, we do not have LotR, Hobbit and I think Silmarillion in our Yahoo files. I'm not sure whether we don't have Unfinished Tales as well. But I know for certain that there is no copy of the Letters there...er, I mean, we don't have it. Really.

Dear OT
You be careful of JenB. She's a sly little hobbit who trickses poor Smeagol with lies. Bah! She tells poor, gullible Smeagol that Galadriel had a sister. Tricksey! Tricksey! Is it Smeagols fault he hasn't read all the bookses. Then she tells poor, patient Smeagol that Bob will bore him.
Smeagol promises to be very, very good and will lead OT away from JenB. Smeagol don't like elveses either. They stinkses and poor Smeagol can't get the smell off my poor little handses.
Your Friend,
Smeagol
PS - Gots any fishses... or a small orc, perhaps?
To: carton253
Get away from her, you nasty creature! Or I'll set this Elven blade on you!

Ok, I gotcha! ;-)

Smeagol promises to be very, very good and will lead OT away from JenB. Smeagol don't like elveses either. But OT promised to be nice to elveses. OT doesn't like nasty stringy orcses, but fisheses would be nice. Especially fried fisheses with chips and hushed puppies on the side.
To: Overtaxed
Ach! But Smeagol promises one thing, and Gollum does another. Come with Smeagol, OT. Gollum teaches nice OT how to hates elvses. Snooty, rude elvses! But Smeagol no likes hush puppies? What's hush puppies, eh, Precious? Fish no good scorched. We bites them while they still wriggle and squiggle. Makes Smeagol laugh!
