The NFL should relocate the Steelers-Saints game in Paris to London

Posted on 10/24/2026 8:58:28 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

It’s surprising that it’s gotten to this point. The warning signs have been obvious for weeks. A soccer match between PSG and Lyon recently was moved from Sunday to Monday, at the direction of French authorities. If the NFL won’t do the prudent thing and move the game to London, the powers-that-be in Paris should direct the NFL to bump Steelers-Saints to Monday, too.

There’s no reason to wait. They should make the move now.

Their goal is international expansion.

It is rough enough going to the west coast for games. The European team will have an impossible travel schedule

I would bet on tailgating Saints and Steelers fans over any rioters over there.

Nonsense, the world should see what the French “schoolchildren” have been doing... and what they are capable of.

Their goal is international expansion.

Which, in turn, is for bank account expansion.

And millions of TV viewers' waistline expansion.

Good thing this is an expanding universe. We need the room.

Seems like they’re going to cover up the riots rather than fight them. France surrenders again.

Protests gone out of control are not the same thing as terroris, and usually happen on weekends, but, the French surely needed to spread out events to have enough personnel to cover them. They were already shorthanded. The soccer games likely had the biggest footprint, so for that (move them to the likely “slower” Monday) and other (including $$ for the NFL) reasons, it probably made more sense to make the NFL game the one that didn’t “move”.

“Protests gone out of control are not the same thing as terroris...”

A protest is defined as an act of challenging something—ranging from an organized public demonstration to a quiet, individual refusal.

A terrorist riot is defined as a premeditated, politically or ideologically motivated violence or threats directed against civilians, property, or government institutions to induce fear, coerce a population, or influence public policy. You’re right. But they don’t have a protest. They have a terrorist riot.

“...violent fringe groups targeted public buildings, looted luxury boutiques and supermarkets and attacked police vehicles and officers.”

https://www.reuters.com/world/students-trade-unions-yellow-vests-set-protest-across-france-2026-10-17/

So they have violence through burning, looting and physical attacks. By their definitions above, which one do you have?

“...it probably made more sense to make the NFL game the one that didn’t “move”.

Luckily, the game was played with huge security working with the US state department and the French authorities. Certain outlets that normally are set up near the stadiums they play were shut down and a pop up event for both teams was decided closed down.

The game was intentionally kept at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, located about 6 to 8 kilometers north of central Paris, which isolated the venue away from the primary riot and protest zones. The NFL worked hour-by-hour alongside the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Embassy, Parisian police, and French national authorities. The French government deployed up to 70,000 police officers nationwide over the weekend to secure cities and control the rioting, a portion of which heavily reinforced transit routes and checkpoints leading to the stadium. Extra ticket and bag checks were established. Everyone entering the stadium area was required to pass through mobile metal detectors. And enhanced security protocols and dedicated escorts were utilized to transport players and staff directly from their hotels to the stadium. And it was noted by the French travel agency Les Frenchies Travel to include pictures that a large part of the audience watching were Americans. Sometimes it best to have just blind luck.

I don’t think it was blind luck as much as it was having the resources available each day, instead of pushing everything to Monday and then trying to cover everything, on Monday. MANY French security heads stated they were, to use one of our American phrases, “maxed out”.

So, if events were to be spread out, which days for which events? There I can only speculate that money was a big factor, and the framing of the NFL game as drawing a full crowd (”look at how popular this is!”) may have been even more important to the NFL. Soccer, OTOH, is pretty much gonna be “what it is”, in France, even if the games pushed to Monday have lowered attendance.

Just guessing...

“...Just guessing...”

You probably aren’t far from wrong. Money dictates how everything about the NFL is accomplished. It has nothing to do with sports or even the common sense of not supplying the location of a possible disaster like in this case. Why should they care? They were there, but it would be impossible to get to them without an RPG.

Years of working within the failed antics of US sports has emboldened the NFL to try to do anythiung they wish from fudging on rules like crowd control to eliminating owners like Carroll Rosenbloom in a witnessed effort that was buried possibly in the same sand he was drug off and into the surf. The owners were the Clintons before they were an immoral lying problem. So the big quesion is...does crime pay?

“I can only speculate that money was a big factor...”

Good speculating, my friend.

How NFL Owners Make Money

• Guaranteed National Revenue: Each of the 32 teams receives over $432 million annually from league-wide media rights (broadcast TV and streaming deals), sponsorships, and merchandise before selling a single ticket or hot dog.

• Local Revenues: Owners keep nearly 100% of luxury suite sales, local sponsorships, parking, and stadium concessions (such as high-margin food and beer), plus a large share of local ticket sales.

• Soaring Franchise Valuations: The average NFL franchise is worth roughly $9 billion to $9.5 billion, turning teams into rapidly appreciating assets. For example, the Dallas Cowboys are valued at over $17 billion.

• Private Equity & New Investments: Recent league rule changes allowing private equity investments (up to 10% per team) and partnerships through 32 Equity allow owners to capture outside capital and investment returns that are exempt from football-revenue splits with players.

The rich only want to be richer. And it doesn’t make any difference to them how they get it as long as it is handed to them.
