Here’s a piece of data for what it’s worth:
I used Duckduckgo to search for “Conservative political forum”. Guess what didn’t come up even after 5 pages of results?
Quite a few others did that sound interesting. Like US Message Board which was identified as “the largest and most active political forum on the web”, which shows over 1 million threads, 38 million messages, and 48,114 messages. It has a modern format with images and every post is tagged with join date, number of posts, reaction score, and points. Of course it’s not limited to conservative opinions so it’s more like the real world than an echo chamber.

Yes I have and the ads are annoying. But also, the sites are well funded and functional. It’s a trade-off. I don’t like ads. But I also don’t like the idea of FR doing a slow slide into oblivion.

The Sunday thread has always gone in breaking news because in 1998 Jim Robinson told me to put it there because people couldn’t find it.
And I put it there every week since.
Its been there longer than you’ve been here.
It has nothing to do with mods/admin wanting it there, just Jim. My thread used to get buried in breaking news within a day. Why they’ve not allowing other posts to be in there is the puzzle.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think anyone has been
fully ZOTTED on this site in several years, at least not the way it used to be done during the GWB years.
Back then, there was no such thing as ‘Quiet Zotting’.
It was purposely Over-The-Top Site Banishment, meant to be nearly on par with Excommunication! This tactic may now be seen as counterproductive and ‘bad business’.
No, even on a normal day now it is about 50 post in 10-12 minutes, not long ago it was 2-3 minutes. Breaking news day it was about 1 minute.
Over 3 hours since your post and not a single new thread. The last 2 posts in Breaking News are weekly chat threads. The last post in Front Page News is almost 2 weeks old. Yeah, it’s pretty much a ghost town in here.

The Briefing Room took in tremendous amounts of new members whenever JR used to go berserk and zot Freepers en masse. But it’s kind of a ghost town these days.
Maybe when FR is no more, The Briefing Room will become more active and relevant.
