There is a clip of the celebrated conservative economist and historian Thomas Sowell circulating on social media right now that is fascinating to watch.
In the video, Sowell shares what makes him think that society as we know it might be doomed. He uses the example of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Sowell points out that people are so stupid that they called Kirk a fascist when all he did was talk to people and try to convince them of his ideas, while noting that it is fascists who shoot and kill people.

I think we are inevitably headed for totalitarianism; either in the form of a takeover by the barbarians or as a last-ditch effort to prevent that from happening. I see no middle ground ahead that preserves the liberties we’ve become accustomed to, which have been manipulated to threaten their very foundations.
Barring that he deserves the Peace Prize for defusing the monument of lies stoking the resentment of minorities toward whites and Western Civilization.
Pick one and write your congressman, or someone else who can nominate him.
But it would be an obscenity if he were to cross the Rainbow Bridge without getting that deserved award.
I think the Nobel committees responsible are so infiltrated with Communists that it won't happen.
Which is proof of their ignorance and stupidity.
I was thinking the same thing; so many are uninformed, prejudiced, utterly ignorant. That is no recipe for saving the country.

But I put great faith in Robert Lucas, Jr's, theory of the economic effects of "rational expectations" by people, as smart or smarter than the government, who will "optimize" their individual interests. Making it impossible for government to control these people forever...
It is possible the weight of "stupid" humanity could bring about the "doom" of society, but the comments posted by many here on FR give me hope.
