Chutz-POW!
A host of rabbis recently participated in a five-day “summer camp” featuring extensive firearms training as Jewish leaders from across the US prepared for the High Holidays.
The pilot program, run by Los Angeles-based Jewish security organization Magen Am USA, brought together 20 Chabad Hasidic rabbis from 12 states for an intensive crash course designed to help them respond to potential threats at their synagogues and in their communities.
The program, which also included emergency medicine and security training, took place in August in Los Angeles. It came as Jewish communities across California and the country grapple with heightened security concerns and rising fears about attacks on Jewish institutions.

The organization has already begun expanding its broader security operations, including a new San Diego team.
But the biggest question for some rabbis is what role, if any, firearms should play in their religious responsibilities.
For the Los Angeles rabbi, completing the program did not immediately translate into a decision to carry a gun.
He said he is still considering whether firearm ownership is right for him and plans to undergo additional training before making that decision.
“I’m still in the journey with it,” he said. “My biggest takeaway is now I know how to use a firearm. God forbid, if it’s a case of an emergency, as a rabbi, I’m prepared.”

First bears, now lagomorphs, where does it end?
“Guns and Moses.” Pretty good movie, see it.
Dr. Demento needs to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
None of us would know about 142nd fastest gun in the West, the Pencil Neck Geek, and the Congress of Wonders without him. Indeed, it’s arguable that the anti-dictator sentiment on FR - and anyone over 55 - was fueled by the Doctor.
There is no gun culture in Chabad. This is new for them too.
As for the bears, they got their own problems!

On the serious side, if I were a Jew anywhere in the world, I would obtain weapons and learn how to use them.
We have quite a few active and retired police in my church congregation and some of them are carrying concealed. If a shooter came in and started shooting, he would not get far.
No your not
The blonde cop has shiksappeal.
Hahahahaha a Bad Ass Rabbi!!
I knew lagomorph, but looked it up to be sure.
Leporine is more specific to hares and rabbits, and can be used as a noun. Wanted to use ursine for bears, but it looks like it’s only an adjective.
Heh, love the drilling down on this!
“Inside the ‘summer camp’ training rabbis how to use firearms”. Turning Jews into Johnny Ringo.
Logophile here.
Pinging Logos, if they want to comment.
Technically, it looks like kung fu.
