A new law requiring hairdressers in New York to learn how to do all hair types including Black hair is now in effect.
Starting Tuesday, anyone studying cosmetology in the state must be trained to work with diverse types of hair textures.
The number of hours needed to get a license won't change.
Instruction on how to do curly, wavy, coily and kinky hair must be integrated into the curriculum.
The goal of the law is to stop anyone from being turned away from a salon.

In the Universal Hot Crazy matrix Hairdressers are in the danger zone. This will just make them even more dangerous.
LOL!
The one who has no hair is the most outraged about hair.
The Black hairdressers are going to have something to say about this.
If I am bald but I identify as a person with hair, can I sue them if they refuse to give me an afro?
This is normally taught in cosmetology school (at least in Memphis).
This is going to be jet fuel for lawsuits.
Are Nappies contagious??
If they have a school and license requirement then being familiar with all types of hair and related areas seems like it should be normal.
How come lawyers aren’t regulated?
how soon before new york state forbids MDs from specializing?
I demand that they also learn how to do bald people too. We old, bald guys (and especially cancer patients of all chromosomic and age variants) need to be able to go to any hairdresser and feel catered to.
What if they stink at doing it?
Don’t they do some study on baldness?
“Are they expecting everyone to know any and every style?”
Hopefully, after they get their virtue signaling accolades, the end result will be hairdressers will have to pass a unit on “black hair” and then can move on.
Would they expect all medical students to perform all modalities of healthcare? They S*P*E*C*I*A*L*Z*E, just like hairdressers do.
Shave ‘em bald. Offer wig and glue.
“Y’mean I have to TOUCH it?” 😒
“This stinks of virtue signaling by city hall.”
Sadly, it’s a STATE law.
In the memoir sections about the early careers of Muddy Waters and BB King they recalled they always arrived in a town on tour having to locate a barber, hotel or motel, dry cleaner, restaurant and so on that allowed black people. Usually would look for a black man and come up to him and ask.
Muddy remembered an older white woman on the other side of a motel office window taking one look at him and his carload of black musicians in the car, her eyes went wide open and she pulled down a shade with “Closed” on it.

Considering adding a maze on top of his hedge.
