Last data point showed the aircraft at 300ft, doing 180 knots or 208mph. The normal landing speed for a 767, varies from 145-155 knots or 121mph to 134mph. Looks like they may have come in hot and could not stop in time.

How far down the runway did he touch down and what was his airspeed? Any possible mechanical failure with brakes and reverse thrusters? What is the flight history and training of the pilots? Runway conditions wet or dry. Were flaps and slats deployed properly for his aircraft?
If outside of normal landing parameters of the amount of runway left and airspeed for that aircraft, the pilot not flying the approach should have taken control and executed a “go around.”
The NTSB will pull the flight recorder, and all these questions will be answered quickly but not likely released for a few months. I really hope for mechanical failure as I hate it when it is the pilots fault.
A Boeing 767 freighter overran Runway 30 at Miami on September 6, 2026, killing five people and injuring several others. In this video, I break down the available ADS-B data, the aircraft’s unstable approach, excessive speed, glidepath deviation, touchdown point, weather conditions, and the systems that may have affected its ability to stop.
The data depicts a 767 that was high and fast throughout the final approach, at one point more than 500 feet above a normal 3-degree glidepath while still carrying excessive speed. We also look at the sudden wind shift near the time of the accident, including a tailwind component on Runway 30, and estimate how that may have increased the landing distance required.
The aircraft appears to have touched down roughly 3,500 feet beyond the displaced threshold at about 167 knots groundspeed, leaving just over 4,300 feet of runway remaining. I also examine how delayed or inhibited spoiler deployment, thrust reversers, wheel-speed sensing, and air-ground logic could have further reduced the airplane’s ability to decelerate after touchdown.
