FREEQs and FREEPERS, we're 2/3 of the way through the quarter and we've only collected 1/3 of the funds, and our Credit Card processor just shut down Free Republic's account!
It's almost like someone doesn't like us sharing information.
Please support the best information 'watering hole' on the Internet!

Our credit card processor just shut down our account this morning, so I won't be needing anyone's credit card info after all. Credit card donations are gone.
This leaves us with PayPal, mail-in, and Venmo. Someone suggested I look into Zelle, which I will look into today.

huh. it’s like they don’t want us or something. i’m glad i already gave on the cc. but now what? maybe paypal. i think i still have an old account somewhere.
That is what I would like to know. Why did the credit card company (and which one was it - maybe I didn’t read) shut down transactions?
What about regular monthly recurring donors on CC?

There is something called paralleleconomy.com that was created for just such situations. I do not know much more. It was advertised as an alternative to the banking/credit process cancel culture. The name just stuck with me when I heard it.
Get the Zelle. It’s become a standard pay option on most checking accounts accessible over the internet.

Zelle is easy and you can request an amount every month I think and all we have to do is approve it.
Isn’t Venmo more expensive with their fee?

With the CC processor down, we need to pay via Paypal, mail-in a check, or use Venmo or Zelle.
Were normal monthlies processed before the shut off?
What entity did the shut off? Afaik, my CC bank does not care what I use the CC for.
Chinese behind the scenes at your bank verified you have an adequate social credit score despite their being suspicious of what a "Free Republic" is.
I missed John's update - VENMO app is live for FREEPATHON donations!
What the bank card companies might do is to lock an account for 48 hours after an FR (or other like site) contribution, (with prior notice to the potential contributor, of course).
The bank card companies could easily send an automatic refund notice to FR. They would gain a two-day fraud block.
The scammers would soon shun FR and like sites.
