‘You’ve Lost a Ton of Weight!’ Fox’s Peter Doocy Probes JD Vance About His Diet

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy had jokes for Vice President JD Vance during the latter’s press briefing Thursday.

The event was the first since former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt exited the post in August.

“I just want to ask you, if there’s been reports about this, but I have not heard you talk much about you lost a ton of weight lately. How much sauerkraut do you eat in a day?” Doocy asked.

Vance appeared caught off guard by the question.

“Oh my lord, okay. So when you’re the vice president of United States and one of the first questions at a press conference in the White House is how much weight you’ve lost, you must have gotten very fat, that’s one thing that I take from that question. So I’ll tell you a little story,” he answered.

Vance continued:

So every Lent I try to — I’m a devout Christian, I try to take it very seriously. So I try to do some kind of self-denial. And so I was talking to my wife on Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, and I was like, I think I’m going to give up sugar, and I think I’m going to give up social media. Okay? So if I want to tweet something, I tell these guys to tweet something for me and otherwise I try to stay off social media. So I call Bobby Kennedy. And I’m like, I know you’re really into health. I’m thinking about giving up sugar. What do you think? And Bobby Kennedy says,’No, no, no, I got something that’s way better than that and way more intense’, and basically it’s like yeah, a lot of high protein stuff and I a lot of sauerkraut, and let’s just say that if that was Fat Tuesday, fat Wednesday never came. So, my advice to you is if you want to lose weight, call Bobby Kennedy. If you want to enjoy what you eat, do not call Bobby Kennedy.

The White House debuted a new food pyramid from U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., in January. His version places “Protein, Dairy and Healthy Fats” alongside fruits and vegetables at the top, and lists steak, turkey, and salmon as potential protein choices.

Under doctor’s command, I recently gave up sugar, bread, and other high glycemic foods. Not only has my blood sugar stabilized, but, to my surprise, my weight has gradually dropped by about a pound a week without exercise or feelings of hunger.
