On August 27, 2026, Attorney General Josh Kaul announced that the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) is joining a suit to block a federal policy requiring providers and states to comply with updated U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) funding rules for the next five-year grant cycle.
“This is what Josh Kaul isn’t telling you: that this is just another example of him using lawfare to protect special interests like Planned Parenthood, Wisconsin’s largest abortion provider,” stated Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. “Instead of expanding their counseling services to patients, Planned Parenthood wants to maintain the status quo, and has turned to Josh Kaul to protect their bottom line – at the taxpayers’ expense.”
Since 2018, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin has spent over half a million dollars in independent expenditures on behalf of Josh Kaul.
“We believe taxpayer dollars should support a truly comprehensive approach to women’s health and include meaningful support for pregnant women,” continued Weininger. “Don’t believe Josh Kaul when he says this is about protecting health care. This is about protecting the status quo for a special interest group, Planned Parenthood, and their access to taxpayer dollars.”

“As Attorney General, I promise that no laws will be enforced on my watch.”
Josh Kaul is the son of Peg ‘The Keg’ Lautenschlauger. He does not use his mother’s name for political purposes.
Peg (now deceased) was our AG for WAY too long. She was a raging drunk and was finally fired for crashing a state-owned vehicle while *SURPRISE* intoxicated.
He’s another one that delights in killing the unborn. *SPIT*
He DOES have some competition this election year in Eric Toney (R) and we are working hard to FIRE Josh Kaul.
Here’s a good article on Kaul’s shortcomings. Eric Toney is gaining some traction and has good money behind him.

Sample from above:
“How is Kaul a nepo baby? He holds his mom’s seat. The late Peg Lautenschlager, God rest her soul, once drove a state car into a ditch drunk and lost the job, but her son has redeemed her. Kaul is Peg’s son. It’s interesting how many people don’t know that.
Another fact a lot of people don’t know?
Kaul was also a wild-eyed liberal election lawyer for the firm behind the discredited Steele dossier. In fact, before he was AG, Kaul once demanded a hand recount of all Wisconsin ballots on behalf of his client… Hillary Clinton. If a Republican tried that, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Molly Beck would label them an election denier. Kaul himself would probably find a way to destroy their lives with weaponized prosecution of a novel legal theory. Like he’s trying to do to Trump’s former election lawyer, Jim Troupis, even though his own office once said, in writing, that what Troupis did wasn’t a crime. Kaul, who is Ivy League educated, also had a short and undistinguished stint as a Baltimore prosecutor.”
Kaul is using tax dollars to prosecute Judge Jim Troupis, a lawyer for Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign.
It’s lawfare at its worst. Kaul’s prosecution uses a novel charge that he himself is on record declaring not to be a crime... until he changed his mind to say it was.
The Left has done this for five reasons, I believe. 1) Get back at Trump, 2) financially and reputationally ruin a fine, top Republican lawyer fine, 3) bring fear and anxiety to Troupis and other Trump attorneys’ families, 4) insure that other fine lawyers have dismayed reasons not to work for PDJT, and 5) grease the lawfare machine, seeing that the corrupt, Leftist legal engine gets “oiled” (paid off, elected and promoted) at many important junctures.
The judge in the Troupis trial has manifested impropriety and has borne false witness for the record to cover up his and another attorney’s actions and lies, says solid evidence presented in the case.
Multiple lawyers working the case have pretended the Constitution doesn’t have a Supremacy Clause (to exacerbate the process punishment), for which they deserve disbarment and criminal prosecution, IMHO.
