Dolly Parton‘s reps have revealed her cause of death. The iconic singer died after a “brief battle” with cancer at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, her reps said Tuesday.

“Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched. Her unmatched generosity reached the lives of countless people whom she would never meet, yet she was always there to offer a helping hand,” the statement from her reps to People magazine read.

“””And she was focused on her husbands illness, so “indigestion” could have been waved off. Then when it was finally looked at, it was too late.”””

Yup. I am a caregiver for my son so I let my own health take a backseat. Paying for it now.

On a podcast this morning, someone mentioned that in September, 9/25 should officially be decreed Dolly Parton Day.

Me too, except for my Dad, and then my Mom.

I did the right thing, but...

Why is that? (I’m not a Star Wars fan.)

One day I pulled up to the grave of an 18 year old girl whose stone I was going to add some lines to. Her mom happened to be there and we chatted. I asked about the circumstances of her daughter’s death. She was diagnosed with cancer at 18 and was gone in six months. Cancer can move when it wants to.

It’s a close approximation to one of Star Wars catch phrases. May the Force be with you... May the Fourth. It’s taken a while to be adopted but it’s a thing among the fandom now.

Caregivers often die before the ones they care for, for this very reason. I was in great health before taking care of my FIL with dementia for 5 years. Even just the physical and social limitations of being homebound with him, and lack of sleep, took its toll.

I don’t have cancer (thank the good Lord) but I have other issues that started during that time that I am dealing with at the moment. I am so glad his hospice nurse urged me to go get tests/physicals/bloodwork which helped me identify what was going on (and rule out other things).

Still, I would not have traded a moment of time caring for DH’s dad. He was an amazing person.

People have no idea what it is like unless they go through it themselves.

Agreed.

Only hubby and I know (in our case) because we were the only ones who stepped up.

His pastor brother and missionary sister could not be bothered to lift a finger.

It’s also the reason my son does to go to church anymore, although he hasn’t written off Christianity because of his dad and I.

My quilting friend was caregiver for her mother in her last years. My friend knew things weren’t right for herself but ignored it until her mom passed.

Turns out she had cancer. She kicked it, but it returned. Seems to be doing OK now.

I saw an interview where she said she was so focused on her husband's health that she ignored her own health for a year.

This makes me think it was treatable, if not curable, but she waited too long to do anything about it.

Question - Like maybe it was turbocharged or something like that? That’s a question. Just axin’. RIP Dolly.

I hate to break this to you, but not every death (particularly among the elderly) is attributable to the Covid Vaxx. More likely, her immunities were low due to the cancer treatment and she came down with an infection, which quickly spiraled into sepsis. I know several people who passed that way long before the Covid Vaxx was invented.
