An ultra-exclusive Hamptons yacht club catering to the wealthy and well-connected was forced to suspend its members-only restaurant service for multiple days after several of its kitchen staff were booted from the country over visa issues, The Post has learned.
The swanky oceanfront Devon Yacht Club in Amagansett — which reportedly charges around $100,000 in initiation fees — canceled its Wednesday night dinner service after it lost its foreign cooks, according to a letter sent to members the same day.
“The H2B visa approval for our cooks is still not resolved,” the letter obtained by The Post stated, referring to special visas that allow US employers to fill seasonal or temporary positions with foreign nationals.
“It seems that an oversight either by the agent or attorney responsible for submitting our petition or perhaps by the US Immigration Office itself has resulted in a situation where our H2B kitchen staff must leave the country immediately and return to their home countries for at least 60 days before their visas can be renewed,” the notice continued.
The high-society haven has experienced choppy waters in recent months as members battle over plans for the club’s future — and whether that includes a full demolition and multimillion-dollar reconstruction or renovations, New York Magazine reported.
The inner turmoil has leaked into the public view as several members have been expelled, dozens of lawsuits have been filed and members have aired their grievances in online forums and at town meetings.
In a lawsuit filed on March 9, expelled members from the private club alleged they were booted from the elite spot for rocking the boat by opposing a controversial $35 million redevelopment project and claimed one board member threatened to “gouge out” an opponent’s eyes.

How sad.
“Waiter! There’s an illegal alien in my soup!”
Awwwwww. The heart bleeds for them.
brilliant!
Get out of my country.
“this is why the elites like slave labor”
Deloitte is both the #1 welfare fraud and the #1 abuser of H1b. H1b work on the welfare fraud IT systems like IES Integrated Eligibility System because H1b are in no position to become whistleblowers about the FRAUD.
That some of these H1b IT workers do not understand US or State law and custom and some are not competent in IT and they are cheap might be secondary the the first reason. They won’t kill the golden goose.
Whaaa, The locals had a bus load of illegal immigrants escorted out of the city.
Well I Guess if the immigrants went to work in the kitchens quicker, they could have stayed.
No! The recent green vegetable illnesses were not blamed on illegals. They were blamed on farms in Mexico where the lettuce, peppers, avocados, etc were grown.
Place is wealthy yet they use cheap ass foreign help?
Too cheap to hire Americans and pay them?
You betcha
and the pizza delivery boat
Lets take it a step further... What politician has a vested interest in the Hamptons and this particular restaurant venture? thats how they got their visas!
I think the issue is the other way; "What politician has a vested interest in the $35M development that would change the yacht club?"
I love Hampton tomatoes. They just never caught on as a hand fruit.
I guess we will have to just take all our yachts elsewhere for Dinner.
Quelle dommage.
“ There are no locals.”
I grew up on Long Island. There is absolutely a year-round population that can do a lot of the jobs currently done by by illegal aliens.
Door dash ? I make my self laugh
They probably aren't subservient enough
