I'm getting a lot of scathing pushback calling JD Vance a leftist so I'm laying out why it's true in a straight-forward, semi-nuanced way. It is not me making the claim, the following is what Vance has personally stated he believes in.
1. Vance calls himself a post-liberal. Post-liberalism rejects free-market capitalism and individualism in favor of the government securing economic and social well-being (social welfare). The counter-argument is to recognize the responsibility of individuals for their own welfare (food, shelter, well-being).
2. Vance says he believes in Hamiltonian economics. Hamiltonian economics has shared commonality with modern left-of-center ideology primarily through its advocacy for an active, interventionist federal government that shapes the economy rather than letting the free market determine the direction of markets.
3. Vance has stated he agrees with the politics of Huey Long, Louisiana's leftist governor of the 1930's. Huey Long functioned as a left-wing populist whose economic policies focused heavily on wealth redistribution, even to the point of proposing heavy-handed capital taxation on personal fortunes in order to distribute individual earnings to those who hadn't earned what they received.
These 3 points are objectively accurate about what JD Vance believes and what conservatives fight against. To protest the reality of Vance's beliefs is to reject stolid truth.

As a papist, we would hope his guidance isn’t going to come from the Pope. The last one, and the one we are afflicted with now (Popes), are a world apart from conservative Americans. Far left social gospel revolutionary Marxists both of them.

Im not going to get too whipped up yet. There are a number of ways parts of some of these things could, with the cooperation of conservatives, come about and still be true.
JD is a construct entirely fabricated and funded by Thiel. We will get far more information by reading things Thiel has said than pondering what JD meant.
Be honest. You posted this because you believe Vance is a leftist and posted this x post to reinforce your beliefs. Confirmation bias.

That post was pro American and not leftist at all. Marx believed in globalism and mass immigration because they destabilize society.
Re: #2, I have no problem with Vance’s advocacy for tariffs used as a tool to raise government revenue and protect American industries. On this issue he’s on the side of not only Hamilton (as mentioned), but Washington, Madison, Calhoun, McKinley, and many others. Not exactly a “leftist” bunch.
That said, I prefer others to be the GOP standard-bearer in 2028.
I’m all in for DeSantis, I think he learned some valuable lessons from 2024.
