Lovely pie and bread! I like a TART apple pie versus a sweet one, too.
That does sound like a good time. Northern MI is so pretty...ALMOST as pretty as Northern Wisconsin. ;)
Buying zucchini means you can dish it up when you want to.....

Jealous! You’ve got PLENTY of gardening days ahead of you. Keep us posted! :)
I have found, even in Zone 5, that many things grow better for me in the fall than in the spring - which is VERY unpredictable with either too much (9 times out of ten!) or not enough rain, or we immediately go to HOT on May 1st, and that’s the end of my spring crops of lettuce, spinach, peas, etc. ...and my beautiful Tulips and Daffodils!
We and Michigan had a spring a number of years ago when we had 90’s in APRIL! They even had to cancel the local and national ‘Tulip Festivals’ as everything was torched as soon as it bloomed. :(
Holland, Michigan has a gorgeous festival - went to it as a kid with my Tulip-Crazy Grandma. I still have my tiny wooden shoes from that adventure. ;)
Hello! Shredded zuke in a quiche would be a terrific binder. Maybe cut back on the cheese?

Using the open-topped bags of soil and the bottoms from storage containers (as a mini greenhouse) has worked well for me.
Not sure if you noticed but the drain pans for the open-topped bags of soil are the lids for the storage containers.
Punch a bunch of holes in the bottom of the soil bag before you remove the top for seeding.
I’ve had the best results with bags of Miracle Grow, but the cheaper bags from Walmart (Expert Gardener Brand) work well, too. And they’re all on sale right now - Walmart is clearing the dirt decks!
The 5 eggs should hold it together!
My favorite everyday Quiche recipe calls for three eggs. I always use five. And MORE cheese than is called for.
No complaints so far. ;)
For shame.....cutting back on cheese.

Then I move on to the next picture and find out its a dirt cake and I start flashing back to third grade with my little sister!
Wow, hard to believe that Aug is here already.
I got my garlic all harvested. It’s curing now.
Some potatoes are starting to die back as are most of the onions.
I did OK with the cabbage, but the slug had a field day with it being so wet.
The tomatoes are doing great but I noticed some stink bugs on a couple tomatoes. I need to go and do a bug check with a container of soapy water to prevent the kind of damage I had one year.
I’ve started with my fall crop plantings.
Overall, a very productive year.
It’s also dragonfly season and we have a bumper crop of those. Not a mosquito to be found anywhere. It’s finally the time of summer we can go out and not be deluged with bugs in the eyes or ears.
I tried some flowers and as usual, cannot be a zinnia crop. This happened both here and in NY. I planted good looking seedlings and something absolutely devours them. I don’t get how people can grow them.
EASY TACO PIE
Ing: 1 can Crescent Rolls 1 lb lean grnd beef 8 oz tub sour cream 8 oz pkg finely shredded Cheddar package taco seasoning (dry) 1/2 taco seasoning package w/ water 1/2 bag crushed tortilla chips
Method: Line sprayed 9" glass pie plate with Crescent Rolls overlapping. Fill any gaps and bring up to edge. Sprinkle with 1/2 tortilla chips. Top with Meat Mixture, then sour cream, shredded cheese, rest tortilla chips. Bake 350 deg 20-25 min. Serve with sour cream, black olives, shredded lettuce, tomatoes or fave toppings, salsa or salsa con queso on the side.
Meat Mixture: Simmer 10 min grnd beef, taco seasoning, water.
