Young progressives are more likely to consider normal day-to-day struggles — like difficulty sleeping and feeling blue — as mental health problems, per a new analysis.
Is it any wonder, given the left-leaning ideology that convinces Americans that the system is simply stacked against them?
Data from the US General Social Survey, analyzed by the Financial Times, revealed that younger people and more progressive people were more likely to believe that everything from feeling worried, trouble sleeping and feeling a little sad were symptomatic of a disorder.
Asked if a theoretical person with those symptoms was experiencing mental illness, 6 in 10 liberals said yes, compared with fewer than 3 in 10 conservatives. And more than half of those under 40 agreed, compared with just 1 in 3 over 50.
It’s part of a broader trend on the left of pathologizing everything and blaming larger forces — like mental health or capitalism — for normal difficulties that are simply part of day-to-day life.
This mindset permeates the left’s messaging, which has long been about what Americans can’t do: You can’t get ahead, the system is stacked against you, everything is out of reach.
Bernie Sanders was an early adopter of this vocabulary, telling his followers that the economy is “rigged” against them. They can’t do anything about that, the implication goes, except — of course! — vote for politicians to fix the problem.

My sleep is interrupted nightly by an over active brain that fails to shutdown...this will go on for a couple weeks then I get a couple good night’s sleep then repeat. I’m retired..8 years now so it ain’t work. I’m in bed a little after 9 and up by 6 and awake every hour in between.
They blame Capitalism for everything, posting from their iPhones on sites hosted on data centers.

Young people seem to think life should be perfect and they should get anything they want, and if they don’t it’s America’s, Capitalism’s, or Boomers fault.
Its very simple they have never had to look in the mirror and say to them selves.
“It’s me, I did it and anything wrong with me is my fault first....I am responsible for my life.”
Where’s Barney the Dinosaur when they need him? It must be a rude awakening for them when they finally realize that they’re not really all that “special”.

Half of them are living on caffeine, in debt to the universities that brainwashed them, and scrolling their phones all night, so... yeah, of course they can’t sleep.
The liberals have for a long time been trying to classify as many people as they can with some sort of mental illness, one of these methods is to declare anyone that has sleep issues as being mentally ill. There as a few drugs that after they came out were found to have another purpose beyond what they were originally created for. Some drugs may cause drowsiness and because of that they are prescribed as a sort of sleeping pill. They are trying to classify these people that take these drugs as psychologically dangerous people. It seems to be only the liberals that are doing this. Why are they doing this, well mostly they are doing this to take people guns away. Of course liberals think conservatives are mentally ill people. They also think most conservatives own guns. I think at this point you all have gotten my message which most of you already understand, I pray these psychologically dangerous liberals never gain power like they when the cheated to get Brain dead Biden in power.
I’m not sure this is a liberal issue as much as a young people issue or a modern culture issue. Modern society teaches that EVERYTHING is a mental health issue. Big Pharma spends billions to tell America that if you are having trouble sleeping or if you are “feeling blue,” its a mental health issue. Liberals are just the canaries in the coal mine. Conservatives are better able to resist Big Pharma’s Jedi mind tricks because they are more mentally grounded.
So, let me get this straight.

Where do you get off calling these people young “progressives”? Your description of “progressive” these days sound like what I would describe more like “regressive”. There is a difference, you know.
