Tehran has spent decades preparing for — and welcoming — a U.S. ground invasion, a senior Iranian official has claimed, as fresh explosions rocked the region on the eighth day of renewed U.S.-Iran strikes.
Seyed Mohammad Marandi, an Iranian American academic identified as a regime "Tehran had just launched a "new missile" while decentralizing and burying its arsenal deep underground to withstand sustained American air campaigns.
"The Americans are planning an invasion. I'm not saying it will necessarily happen. I'm not saying it will necessarily happen in the next few days. But they have plans for an invasion," Marandi, a former advisor to Iran's nuclear negotiation team, said in an interview with political analyst Glenn Diesen.
"Whether they carry them out or not, we'll see. But the Iranians, as you pointed out, the focus of Iranian strikes is on Bahrain and Kuwait, and that's because that's where most American assets have been placed for a ground invasion," Diesen said.
Marandi’s comments came as the conflict expanded across western and southern Iran in the run-up to Saturday.
Jordanian officials confirmed they intercepted 10 missiles early Saturday, while authorities in Kuwait reported casualties and severe damage to a domestic power and desalination plant.
In response, U.S. airstrikes struck bridges, a key road tunnel, surveillance outposts and reinforced underground weapons storage facilities.
Multiple explosions also rocked the city of Khorramabad in Iran's Lorestan province. Iranian state media claimed the blasts were caused by U.S. missiles launched from regional bases in Kuwait, according to reports.

Speaking for myself, I'd rather live in than stone age than be ruled by a pagan, communist Demoncrat. Live free or die!
Nope. Confiscate their entire means of prosperity (gulf and oil) and let them writhe and rot until morale improves!
We could partition the geography so that "Iran" no longer exists. It's been done many times before.
“ We could partition the geography so that “Iran” no longer exists. It’s been done many times before.”
You and what army? Do you people have any idea of the size and combat power that was needed to defeat and partition Germany?
All Iranian ports under U.S. control in 3, 2, 1...
It’s not our oil 🪔
“If the good people of Persia are still too cowwed to murder the already castrated Islamic Republic“
1) The people of Persia apparently overwhelmingly support their government and there is really no evidence to the contrary.
2) To describe the Islamic Republic as castrated uses facts not in evidence.
Looking at it rather coldly / objectively, a “problem” with modern warfare is that these days we are “civilized”, which means that hostile populations (which are not necessarily the majority of an enemy regime’s population) are not convinced they have no alternative but to give up, hopefully under terms in which they can stay alive.
The allies absolutely beat the crap out of Germany, top to bottom, and across the entire country, in WW2. We nuked Japan to minimize the horrors - and luckily their top “theocrat” / near deity / Emporer was a pragmatic person, not a completely whacko zealot himself.
I still maintain that the Iranian regime can rather easily be collapsed with focus on taking out their refined products’ supply. This will create considerable hardship for the population, but, restoring several distillation towers at their refineries is a much easier task than putting all of Iran-Humpty back together if we blast the entire country’s infrastructure the way some advocate. It is certainly a less nasty action than Iran’s taking out Gulf States’ water plants, which they have done in Kuwait to the tune of 90% of Kuwait’s supply. It also tends to be more acceptable to the whole “oil is bad” / green crowd — a large number of people on this planet, unfortunately.
In the long run, either the majority of Iran’s population needs to be effectively in charge, or, perhaps the Gulf States like Saudi Arabia can spend some money to harness a chunk of their rather remarkably large gamer populations to smother Iran with millions of drones. Wouldn’t that be ironic?
Yes, but that size and combat power was needed because the Allies did not have efficient enough means (like accurate bombs) to otherwise wreck Germany’s logistics.

Yeah! we did this 35 years ago in 100 hours to a Soviet supplied, million man Iraqi army that the Islamic Republic of Iran couldn't put a dent in for the ten years Iran-Iraq War.
Then why did their last Navy ship surrender to Sri Lanka?
No? Beither is Venezuelas.
GREAT COMMENT!!!
PERFECT ATTITUDE...
Except that we are dependent on China for key pharmaceutical ingredients. Actually it’s not only key drug ingredients. it’s basics like masks, gloves, IV bags and other basics. They have us by the cojones.
in order to not be too ashamed, try to keep up ..
Maybe Trump should announce that he is considering a ground invasion and see if that doesn’t trigger Iran to order all the jihadis who invaded us under Biden to return to Iran.
Sadly, I do realize that we are stuck in a bad place, thanks to our government.
I can still try, though.
Correct. Bridges & power plants can not hide deep under mountains. Drones & missiles can.
Hah you mean the Bush+Obama+Biden 20 years total included?
