A new report says health officials are investigating Taco Bell as a potential part of the cyclosporiasis outbreak that’s sickened thousands of people across the U.S., with many suffering from extreme diarrhea.
The Washington Post cites two anonymous sources close to the investigation, which is said to involve both federal and state health officials.
Taco Bell has reportedly removed lettuce, cilantro, pico de gallo and guacamole from its menu in some areas as a precaution.
Michigan’s health department has pointed to lettuce or other salad greens as a potential source of the outbreak, but said some people infected with the parasite did not eat at Taco Bell.
The CDC has not yet confirmed if a specific food item is the source of the outbreak.
Nearly 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness that can cause extreme diarrhea, have been confirmed by health officials across more than half of U.S. states.
The illness is caused by the Cyclospora parasite, which enters the body through contaminated produce, the CDC says.
If ingested, you may experience weeks of watery diarrhea, as well as “frequent and sometimes explosive bowel movements,” the CDC reports.

I came across this meme on Pinterest a long time ago (asterisks mine):
Why doesn’t Taco Bell have a playground?
Because it’s hard to have fun when you might sh** your pants.
That will never not make me laugh.
That’s the truth.
Think Outside the Bun Toilet
Unfortunately.
I think when it comes to Taco Bell, you either love them or hate them. My way of making tacos was always browning ground beef and adding salt, garlic powder, a little cumin and a small can of green chilis, but my son likes to use an envelope of taco seasoning, so they taste like Taco Bell. He does a lot of the cooking, so that’s what we usually get.
Ha. Best to you, FRiend.
Your post is the first I heard the nostalgic enchirito is temporarily back on the menu.
Thinking of the little row of olive slices on top. Can’t remember if they don’t have any shredded lettuce. If not you are in better shape.
From Sporked website:
The Enchirito was (and is) a burrito filled with beef, refried beans, and diced onions, topped with red sauce and melted cheese. It was actually officially removed from the menu back in 2013, having first debuted in 1970, but it returned a few years back after customers voted for its revival.
In the last few years, though, the Enchirito has been but a memory – until last week, when it arrived back in stores, with very little fanfare. It just appeared, with no warning, like an ex across a crowded bar that broke your heart and left you high and dry (definitely never happened to me!)

How is this different than any other time eating Taco Bell slop?
I wonder if Chipotle will end up being one of the chains.
By the way. Don’t ever eat a salad at a ballpark, even in the fancy club levels. Don’t ask how I know 😅
We have a restaurant in Canada called Harvey’s... Every time I’ve eaten there, I typically hit the head within 30 minutes of consuming my meal. It’s always been that way and it always will be that way.
They serve burgers and you choose the toppings which are typically sitting in bowls in front of you to choose from. How the long the toppings have been sitting in those bowls is anybody’s guess... And I’m guessing those toppings are what causes the almost immediate bathroom visit.
I’ve never eaten at a Taco Bell, but I assume it has the same reputation.
Thank you both.
we’ve seen these symptoms last for as long as a year after food poisoning ... daily ingestion of a super-potent, multi-strain probiotic goes a long way towards restoring the microbiome balance and alleviating long term gut disruption caused by food poisoning ...
They poop in the fields!
The current Enchirito is smaller and more expensive than the original.
Black Olives ?
It Had no Black Olices and I remember.
It used to Have Black Olives.
.
Did I mention
No Black Olives?
Like almost everything the good old days were better. Not a myth.
I remember the day Taco Bell reduced the size of the Mexican Pizza.
I love the Enchirito! They stopped offering them so I make them at home. The La Victoria red sauce is the perfect match for it too!
Great to see TB brought it back.
