What is the difference between a democRAT and a communist?

Many of my friends are/were union workers, steel, steamfitters etc. and all were demonRATs until Trump in 2015 and now every one is a solid pubbie voter {but many stay registered as a demonRAT}.
Because of the war with iran, I thought that the mid terms would be a blue wave, but now, I'm more hopeful.
The platners and the far left demonRATS will drive more pubbies to turn out this year and we may have a real chance to hold onto the majority.
This all started in Vietnam. The right wingers went to war and the left went to universities and then on to faculty. Ever since, higher education has been almost entirely left wing.
Where did the institutions of the Western world fail? Socialism, no matter where or when it has been applied in the world, eventually devolves into a mean, austere generalized state of poverty, with a strongman type of leader, necessarily a stern and heavy-handed dictator at the top, and a band of dispirited peons beneath him, none willing to challenge the existing order, until the strongman should waver or falter, then all hell breaks loose, with chaos and anarchy the immediate result. Then either the cycle repeats, or, in very rare instances, the situation resolves into a declaration of freedom and guardrails are put up to preserve that freedom as broadly as possible for all participants.

Communism is often thought of favorably in the abstract, but ask those who have lived under it and you will get a different answer

50% of USA college age students are non-white.

Black college age females vote almost 100% Democrat.
