Thank you for that.
I’ll go with the Critical Drinker’s opinion. Hollywood trash doesn’t need our support.
$125 million loss speaks volumes.
I learned this lesson from Captain America.
When it came out everyone said it was woke garbage too. It wasn’t.
There is a not of money to be made generating clicks from older conservatives, and nothing sells clips like getting mad at those pesky kids and their rock and roll music.
Now get off my lawn.
I couldn’t sit through the last Superman. Too disjointed to me.
And the Marvel look with way too many characters. And the wonton destruction. One scene with several skyscrapers falling down? That’s hundreds of thousands of casualties.
Silly.
What you SHOULD know however is that to sell tickets in China, it has to contain a pro China message, and anti western messages.
The movie company will capitulate but releasing two versions of the movie.
In avengers Chinese releases the entire team was lead by Chinese masterminds in a high tech lab. Mission impossible and avengers age of Ultron have credit to two Chinese women who were really in it for one scene in America, but were lead roles in the Chinese version.
The movie companies deserve no positive critique. But it shouldn’t stop you from liking a movie.
Hell if it did I wouldn’t listen, watch or even read just about anything.

Supergirl “pitch meeting” from Youtube. 6 1/2 minutes of mockery of the plot.
Not woke...
It is poorly written, poorly directed, poorly filmed intersectional feminist agitprop.
I grew up watching George Reeves as Superman.
Reading the comics.
Loved Chris Reeves. Dean Cain. Henry Cavill.
If I need a superhero fix, I know where to look.
No thanks. I hope it loses a billion dollars.
The only thing I liked about the last Superman movie was that it had Superdog in it. I’d watch a whole movie about Superdog, but otherwise forget it.
Superman was just ok.
I always pay attention to freeper recommendations, especially those that run against the groupthink that seems to kick in almost immediately on FR. Contrarians unite!
My resolution a few years ago was not to dump on something unless I had seen it. Supergirl was not on my list simply because I’ve never had a thing for flying spandex movies. But I also don’t dump on other peoples’ genre preferences.
I’ll keep an open mind and may watch more reviews and clips. It could turn into one of those movies I end up watching just to see what the fuss is about.
I have seen a couple of clips in which the actress comes across badly, and in ways that might hint of a bit too much bubbly in the greenroom before she hit the red carpet. I can overlook some stumbles in that department, as I only quit drinking myself 36 years ago and can still remember ... oh, never mind. I was young and stupid once myself. If she has a problem in that area, the studio needs to get a couple of handlers on her before they do any more publicity. And maybe nudge her towards dealing with it the right way.
Girl boss garbage. Hard pass.
Good to know. Might take it in to beat the heat.
I ate at McDonalds. I don’t know what everyone is complaining about...it’s fine...
It would have been much more successful if they had cast Sidney Sweeney as Supergirl.
Too many people are chronically online and do nothing but try and make everything political since they don’t have much else going on in their lives. Im sure the movie is fine though I doubt I’ll ever get around to watching it. Im bored of super hero movies at this point
But I never really cared that much for Supergirl in the comics, she did not faze me. I preferred Superman but really the ones I loved the most (trying to look like these girls) were Betty and Veronica. The comic art was fabulous.
I saw it with my grandkids and thought it was crap. I wanted to like it. I really did. But it was the typical “girl boss saves the world from the evil men” genre that most of the superhero movies have devolved into. The only halfway likeable character in the entire move was the young girl who acted as Supergirl’s sidekick.
I think it is hilarious that men are being blamed for the movie bombing at the box office when the demographics of the small audience that has actually turned out is 60% men.
I liked the new Superman as well. The new Clark had flashes of Reeves portrayal. The new Lois had that next door neighbor hotness. I’ll checkout the new SG. She was a cutie SG in Superman. Thanks for the rec..
