When CATL says something they mean it.

And they say mass production available for consumers "in a few years". I am taking them at their word. We will see in a few years. I am sure they will have something, and some people may like it. It might even be affordable. We will see when it comes.

I had thought that the curly-q fluorescent bulbs were ridiculous, because the much better LED bulbs were around the corner, and I was correct. This is a little more complex than a light bulb, and past performance is not always indicative of future results.

Don’t get “butthurt” and obnoxious when people disagree with your “superior intellect”. Oh, you are a self-proclaimed “polymath”. Wow.

You might provide valuable input on this site if you weren’t such an asshole. But hey, you are really smart so that covers you, right?

Smart enough to convince yourself. You can live in your own reality.

As to them being better for the environment you’re still consuming fossil fuels- it’s being consumed at a power plant instead of in an internal combustion engine. There’s no free lunch. I had a funny interaction with a chevy volt owner. I walked up to him and asked him if it was one of those coal powered cars. He said “No, it’s electric”. To which I responded “and of course electricity comes from magic!”
He walked away pissed.😛

“Uh, except you only get about 30-35% of the energy into the motive force of the car. Compared to >90% of an EV.”

But fossil fuels were burned to get you that 90%. So you have 90% at the wheel. But you have to factor in how that electricity was generated. And unless you have a nuke plant nearby it was generated using fossil fuels.

I can’t afford an EV, don’t want one, & certainly could never trust a used one to even be affordable. I can’t afford a new gas powered vehicle, & since I’m old, I doubt that either one’s in my future.

If getting those Chinese EVs depends on Gavin or AOC getting into the WH, well that’s reason enough right there to not see it happen. No reason for giving China any more inroads into the USA; they have too many already and should be banned from our country.

Let me introduce you to a concept called physics.

There were people who preferred the clip-clop of the horse and would never consider buying one of those noisy contraptions that makes all the noise.

Heh, those same people who, when asked where electricity comes from, will tell you it comes from that thing in the wall with the funny holes in it.

They’re also the same people who think steaks are simply birthed in Styrofoam packages that are covered with cellophane…

I’ve often thought it would be fun to have a stack of bumper stickers that say “I’m driving a coal fired car!“ to put on the back of the bumpers of people who are not driving an electric car because of the obvious advantages in noise or torque, but do so because they want to save the planet!

I would have preferred the 1800’s to today’s BS any day.
