Tesla has finally clarified the situation regarding the viral crash in Texas where a Model 3 slammed into a home.
CEO Elon Musk replied to reports on Monday that stated the crash was due to the company’s Full Self-Driving or Autopilot suite, which seemed unlikely to those who are familiar with it. Video showed the car slamming into a house at an excessive rate of speed, making it highly unlikely the crash was due to the suite’s operation, as it does not travel at those speeds in residential areas.
Musk said:
“This makes no sense. FSD drives slowly through neighborhood streets, and this was a high-speed crash!”
Tesla’s Head of AI, Ashok Elluswamy, added context, revealing that the company’s data shows the driver “manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to 100%.”
He revealed the speed reached by the car was 73 MPH, and the accelerator was still pressed “even after the crash.”
Yup. In this case, the driver manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to 100% of the accel pedal in this residential area. They reached a speed of 73 mph during the crash, and had the accelerator pressed even after the crash.

My dad was diabetic, he once passed out while driving due to low blood sugar....swerved into oncoming traffic, luckily missed everyone and ended up in a ditch. 1st responders figured out what was going on and gave him an injection...
Medical issues could be a factor.
Self-Driving Autopilot cars are fail safe fail safe fail safe.....................................................
Anyone who has ever been in a Tesla with FSD, knew the second we watched the video there was a zero percent probability that the FSD was engaged during that crash. It violates at least 3 hardwired safety modes. The second really the hundredth of seconds that driver pushed the accelerator to 100% the FSD disengaged by design and the driver was then in full control and has full responsibility for the course and outcome of the vehicles path. It was obvious the driver overrode the system.
We knew as soon as the data from the vehicle was released it would show , throttle position, steering inputs , brake application or lack there of. The throttle of a Tesla is a fail safe design if it fails electronically it sends a 0% signal not a 100% signal , for that the pedal must be full pushed against spring pressure and held there. If the spring fails and the pedal is fully depressed and cannot return activating the brakes sends the higher priority signal and the car ignores the throttle position sensor. Brakes always has priority override.
They need to charge this guy with homicide and he needs to be sued into oblivion for deformation.
In the coming years we will see many Luddites who commit suicide to demonstrate the dangers of technology ... just as suicidal protestors baited ICE into making them famous.
Oh they know it’s BS and one-sided. They just want to believe it. It’s like a religion and trying to prove your belief is correct and true.
It's like ... what's that tired old chestnut about the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?

Yeah. Samey-samey.
