Whether you relate more to the allure of the green M&M or the charisma of the red one, you can rest easy in the fact that both of those colors are here to stay—which sadly can’t be said for all of the M&M’s colors you’ve come to know and love. That’s right, the popular chocolate candy brand is doing away with two of its iconic colors, but not without good reason.
Mars, the maker of M&M’s, is phasing out synthetic food dyes, and M&M’s is slated to go au naturel come August. Currently, the small candy-coated chocolates come in seven bright colors—red, yellow, green, blue, orange, brown, and sometimes purple. As it turns out, replicating all of these colors in the same shades using natural ingredients was harder than anticipated.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Mars had little trouble recreating the red, orange, yellow, and green M&M colors using ingredients such as turmeric and beets. However, issues arose when trying to emulate blue and brown. A blue-green alga called spirulina is a common additive used to turn food and drinks blue—but in this case, the juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze, so to speak. The ingredient is much pricier than synthetic dye and requires seven times as much to match the right shade of blue.
Similarly, brown was difficult to recreate as it uses the color blue, as well. With these obstacles in mind, Mars decided to nix the two colors altogether and is instead moving forward with natural M&M’s in just red, green, yellow, and orange. That pack of M&M’s will never be the same. RIP li’l buddies.

They were followers of kevorkianism, just wanted to enable suicidal rats, although this one rat named Fauci survived.
The "No Brown M&Ms Backstage" clause in the Van Halen's venue concert contract rider was there not to reflect any kind of excessive ego, but for very practical safety reasons.
Van Halen ran a huge concert with high powered sound & lighting equipment, as well as other rigs that would - for example - let band members fly over the stage and even over the audience.
Preparing for a production like that requires attention to detail by everyone involved - getting something wrong can get people killed or injured. And the band was finding that some venues were slacking off.
So Van Halen put in the "No Brown M&Ms Backstage" clause as a quick test to ensure that the venue had thoroughly read the entire contract, as failure to comply could indicate potential safety oversights in the technical setup.
That's a pretty clever, and responsible, way to run the concert aspect of their business.
The Ex-Lax incident?

I know it’s just candy but still, SO many Good Memories! :)
If I have my choice, I go for sour candies. Grandpa always had a container of Lemon Drops on his desk and if we were good and didn’t pester him TOO much while he was working, we’d get one or two during the course of the day.
My kids had me semi-addicted to ‘Sour Patch Kids’ back in the day. ;)
99.99979% merch, hard to find snacks in there
Showing my age here I know, but to me, M and M’s were Maris and Mantle.
Except for Iran's M&M enrichment program.

One of the towns I worked in had a pediatric dentistry office right next to the Dairy Queen. I always thought that was funny.

If you want to “eat the rainbow” you have to switch to Skittles.
Sure, it was hard to make the brown dye, so they discontinued brown M&Ms ...
We all know the real reason ...
It’s all good...we have to start somewhere.
Cocoa powder makes brown, too.
I’ll take Jolly Joe’s any day over M and M’s!
Mars is harvesting the algae right now in the Washington D.C. Reflecting Pool. Keep those blue M&Ms coming!
Have you ever had chile beer? I used to make my own. Chopped fresh jalapeno in a glass of Shiner Bock.
I lived in New Mexico for a time. They put green chiles on everything.
“This is good news. I love peanut M&M’s with a small popcorn at the movies! 🙂”
Peanut M&Ms are also really good with mission tortilla chips.
That’s it, I’m done! I can’t go on like this...
Goodbye blue and brown... Goodbye cruel world!
I LOVE jelly beans... Once I start I cannot stop. My teeth hate them though.
Last time I bought a bag of M&Ms they tasted terrible. Did they change their formula?
right about that.
I can cheerfully live without any of that cheap krep. In fact, I’ve never liked chocolate anything.
