I am afraid that a lot of people will not realize that this is a joke. Planting bamboo has no negative consequences for AI Data Centers even though it can be a real pain to get rid of.

Because of this inevitability, I think that the vast majority of AI data centers currently being proposed won't even be built or will be abandoned before completion.
Planting bamboo will attract pandas to the area.

It’s true. When I lived in Panama, one of my landlord’s neighbors chose to build a “privacy fence” of bamboo. The neighbor later sold the property and my landlord tried to uproot the bamboo which had begun encroaching on his land. He had to dig under the topsoil and pull out the roots which were feisty and wouldn’t uproot easily.
But the AI buildout is showing the massive corruption of our political system from the national level all the way down to the neighborhood. Decades of warnings about CO2 emissions, nuclear power, etc., are immediately tossed aside when the tech bros throw $1.5 trillion at a problem and any concern about power, water use or noise at the local level are immediately overridden by the developer cash flashed in front of local officials.
It's a wonder to behold how fast infrastructure can be built when all that private cash sloshes around while public projects and normal industrial development are hamstrung by environmental permitting, political money laundering, etc., etc.
Are AI Data Centers well-shielded against the level of directed EMP that can be produced by home hobbyists with a modicum of knowledge of explosives and electronics?

Planting bamboo is hardly a cogent argument against data centers.
This ingenious plan was no doubt hatched by the children on the 1960’s genius political science students who thought that children’s magnets 500 feet away would erase defense department computer core memories.
Bamboo provides also provides a place for the last remaining hold-out Japanese soldiers to hide.
We have a stand of it down the side of our yard. Its not bad but you do have to keep up with thinning it out. It will spread.
