Pete Hegseth,  Secretary of War: As President Trump put it, and rightfully so, he gave our allies a test - to support America when we asked for their help - and too many failed it.

 

The United States has defended Europe for generations, and the President said - all he said is that our jets would need to take off from bases in Europe or our ships from ports to strike targets in the Middle East, Iranian targets that threatened European interests even more directly than they threaten us.

But too many of our allies said, 'No,' or tried to drown us in arcane legal debates, or publicly criticized us for doing what they aren't prepared or able to do themselves. It was shameful.

 

These allies, they put America's sons and daughters, our sons and daughters, at risk by denying them the predictable access basing and overflight that never should have been in question at all. In some cases we had to shift capabilities from one country to another out of NATO allied countries altogether.

Europe (NATO) and their proxies tried to involve the US in a war with Russia. President Trump and Hegseth have been making it clear that the US will not be manipulated by NATO and that NATO has to defend itself. NATO is unprepared for this harsh reality - they posture as if they are about to launch against Putin, but their own military has atrophied - they expected American warriors to die in their war against Russia.

Throughout NATO's endless array of provocations, Russia held back, knowing the US would not fight for them and NATO didn't want dirty hands and has a sickly military. Basically Europe failed over and over in its attempts to provoke war with Russia.

Now that NATO knows the US will not be treated as their proxy against Russia, I don't believe they will fight Russia. I don't know how much capacity they have to launch a false flag, but they dno't have the capacity to fight and they never intended to put their own children on the front lines. I expect posturing to provoke war and that Russia won't be deceived.

Wait a minute. Why are you skipping over what Trump has done??? Trump said he would take Greenland by force if he wanted to. He has not helped Ukraine... He has not done anything to keep Russia from attacking NATO next... Trump has called all the Europe leaders by terrible adjectives...He did not tell any one in Europe that he was going to start attacking Iran... And now Trump thinks that Europe should help him? Trump just surrendered to Iran.... trying to blame it on Europe!

Just FYI....People who tell the truth are no longer afraid of being called that. Just like people are no longer afraid of being called “racist” or “homophobic” or “fascist” or whatever ad hominem you want to use in place of an argument.

Keep calling me it if you want. When other people see that rational arguments are being shouted down with name calling, they will start gravitating to those un-answered arguments.

Well, we just fought the most unpopular war in history on behalf of them, which splintered the Republican party, destroyed any chance of keeping Congress in2026, likely tanked R's chances in 2028, burned through $100B, cut our missile defense arsenal in half, etc....

So, yeah...I think about them a bit.

Although, hopefully I won't need to be thinking about them so much in the future if Trump stops taking orders from them (as it looks like might happen).

Here is to both of us hoping that I no longer have to make any replies about Israel meddling in our affairs. I really pray that happens.

NATO has become a joke. Let Europe defend themselves. We should be scaling back to mere skeleton staffing at half (or less) of current European bases. We rebuilt that damn region twice. We held the communists at bay for half a century. And, when we asked for some support, they spit in our faces.
