BALTIMORE — Maryland election officials forewarn of vote-counting delays on election night due to the mail-in ballot error.
The Maryland State Board of Elections is addressing fallout from the error caused by the state's vendor, which sent ballots to some voters that were for the wrong party affiliation.
"The packaging was basically for the right district but the wrong party affiliation," Maryland State Elections Administrator Jared DeMarinis told WBAL-TV 11 News.
While the exact number of incorrect ballots sent is unknown, the state has replaced more than 447,000 ballots. Replacement ballots are still arriving in voters' mailboxes, which could lead to delays in canvassing on election night.
"Tight races might be delayed in who is declared the winner," DeMarinis told WBAL-TV 11 News.
The error has drawn scrutiny from Republicans, including President Donald Trump, who last month called for a Department of Justice investigation. DeMarinis confirmed the state received a DOJ request to preserve documents.
"This is nothing new or something that we would change any of our processes for," DeMarinis told WBAL-TV 11 News.
The SBE has also received letters from the House Administration Committee and U.S. representatives. DeMarinis told WBAL-TV 11 News that the board will conduct an internal analysis and is open to the possibility of an independent investigation.

They don’t even attempt to hide the cheating.
They need the extra time to print the pre marked ballots for their guy.
I hate this state.
“This is nothing new or something that we would change any of our processes for,” DeMarinis told WBAL-TV 11 News.
_______
So this is intentional, got it.
Geez, if y’all are really having such a problem, move the primary date back. All you’re saying with delayed results is, “We’re (possibly) cheating.”
I think they’re saying it loud and clear.
Ball tee moe .....,....
Ballmer.....
Blatant fraud.
Other than crab and the Chesapeake, no reason to visit Maryland.
I feel your pain. Maryland, where I have lived since 1963, was once known as "The Land of Pleasant Living." It is now the Democratic Socialist Peoples' Republic of Maryland.
"Tight races might be delayed in who is declared the winner," DeMarinis told WBAL-TV 11 News.
Because I have lived here for so long, I understand the language of the Maryland democrat/communist. This translates into "we will delay declaring the winner until we 'find' the votes for the preferred candidate." In other words, they're gonna cheat.
Somewhere in the deepest reaches of Hades, Josef "it only matters who counts the votes" Stalin is smiling.
Move along. Nothing to see here...
“… I been in the right place
But it must have been the wrong time
My head is in a bad place
But I’m having such a good time
I’ve been running trying to get hung up in my mind
Really got to give myself a good talking to this time
Just need a little brain salad surgery
I got to que my insecurity
But I’ve been in the wrong place
But it must have been the right time
I been in the right place
But it must have been the wrong song
I been in the right vein
But it seems like a wrong arm
I been in the right world
But it seems like wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong..”
The cornfield of Antietam was the bloodiest battle day of the first Civil War.
Lived there most of my life and still consider myself a Marylander, but I would never, ever think of moving back there. The politics are so one-sided and getting worse.
My sister and BIL lived there 45 years and hated it more every passing year. They retired last year and left.
Had a good visit there a couple of years ago. Wifes family lives on the Chesapeake, every time we go up I leave for one day so she can spend time with her dad, a great American farmer. He suggested Antietam which was fantastic, next visit, Bull Run.
The fix is in. Republicans who won now lose.
I live in this third world ****hole state. I know my vote doesn’t count but I still vote. I can’t wait to move.
