The Great Awakening ('Freedom of Thought’), was designed and created not only as a backchannel to the public (away from the longstanding ‘mind’ control of the corrupt & heavily biased media) to endure future events through transparency and regeneration of individual thought (breaking the chains of ‘group-think’), but, more importantly, aid in the construction of a vehicle (a ‘ship’) that provides the scattered (‘free thinkers’) with a ‘starter’ new social-networking platform which allows for freedom of thought, expression, and patriotism or national pride (the feeling of love, devotion and sense of attachment to a homeland and alliance with other citizens who share the same sentiment).
When ‘non-dogmatic’ information becomes FREE & TRANSPARENT it becomes a threat to those who attempt to control the narrative and/or the stable.
When you are awake, you stand on the outside of the stable (‘group-think’ collective), and have ‘free thought’.
"Free thought" is a philosophical viewpoint which holds that positions regarding truth should be formed on the basis of logic, reason, and empiricism, rather than authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma.
When you are awake, you are able to clearly see.
The choice is yours, and yours alone.
Trust and put faith in yourself.
You are not alone and you are not in the minority.
Difficult truths will soon see the light of day.

There’s plenty of click fear here, but essentially the same thing was done with new world screw worm flies (~70 years ago).
The issue here in reality is environmental/biosphere modification for human comfort with little concern over the downstream ecosystem fallout. Sure, mosquitos carry disease, and are annoying as ef all, but we have nets for sleeping, repellants, local pesticide applications, fish, breeding location control, etc... Under optimal natural conditions old, new and/or novel mosquito borne illnesses will be caught by humans, and they will usually get over it, or we’ll find a remedial therapy or combination thereof.
But... If you start attempting to “eradicate” all or certain subsets of mosquito populations, you’re going to be taking a sledge hammer to a primary food source for Nightjars, swallows, bats, et. al.
For researching some of these types of actions, people REALLY need to start crafting or isolating areas into closed ecological systems to experiment on this type of stuff. At least that way, one would know if the action risks somethings downstream collapse.
Remember, we’ve had the ability to map underground structures in great detail for...probably more than 30 years now.

I wouldn't say it was a good movie. Very low budget and Hammer's performance why as dry as plywood. But, and it's a big but like the lady in the third row of the church choir be having, but it was like a cudgel at getting the point across. It did that very well.

The scene was totally unnecessary and absolutely far to drawn out. It was ridiculous. The other drawn out ridiculous scene was the cops storming his house. It was like Custer was at the other end. They just kept coming and coming and coming for like 3 minutes of valuable screen time. And then they did it again with the stupidest police in history kept stepping into the grinder to die for 3 bloody, and I mean bloody, minutes. But, as I said before, the point was as plain as a cudgel. They nailed it.

I agree with your analysis. The sex scene was unnecessary, not that I’m against people having “relations” of that sort. I’ll refrain from further commentary on that.
But yeah, some unrealistic stuff like the SWAT boys getting shredded over and over, despite their body armor and potentially common sense.
But the movie really made the point. Clearly.
