Virginia state Sen. Saddam Azlan Salim (D) is telling prosecutors who say they will not enforce his “assault weapons” ban to quit “tough guy posturing.”
On May 27, 2026, Breitbart News noted that at least three prosecutors in Virginia made clear they would not enforce the ban. By the next day, May 28, the number of prosecutors refusing to enforce the ban was at five, according to WTVR.
On May 29, 2026, Sen. Salim used an X post to address prosecutors who are standing against his ban, saying, “I know these Republican prosecutors see this as an opportunity for tough guy posturing and amateur constitutional lawyering, but ending the sale of assault weapons in Virginia isn’t something an individual prosecutor can do anything about.”

It was a solid red state that was overtaken by Yankees and FedGov workers who outnumber the rest of the state.
Additionally, Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia, has become an extremely Left wing enclave as well as Richmond and the Tidewater area like Newport News (military area). It’s such a shame, but its a matter of time before it happens everywhere. Places like TX, Utah, Idaho, etc used to be red but the Bolsheviks have invaded and changed that.

The definition of an assault weapon is any weapon with fully automatic fire. Only a very people have fully automatic weapons. The rest are NON-ASSAULT semiautomatic firearms. The left are trying desperately to relabel NON-ASSAULT firearms as assault weapons.
The Supreme Court needs to once and for all define assault weapons as weapons with fully automatic fire only.

The actual correct technical term is “assault RIFLE.”
The “assault weapon” language is used by enemies of freedom because it’s vague enough to be applied to anything they want, and the words carry the threat of violence that frighten the sheeple.

That said, just do what was done in Illinois for the same law. Every sheriff in the state signed a letter saying they would not enforce an unconstitutional law.
