Records shattered as summer heat hits Southwest in March; ‘This is what climate change looks like’ (still only 4.67 years left)

WASHINGTON (AP) — The dangerous heat wave shattering March records all over the U.S. Southwest is more than just another extreme weather blip. It’s the latest next-level weather wildness that is occurring ever more frequently as Earth’s warming builds.

Experts said unprecedented and deadly weather extremes that sometimes strike at abnormal times and in unusual places are putting more people in danger. For example, the Southwest is used to coping with deadly heat, but not months ahead of schedule, including a 112 degrees Fahrenheit (44.4 degrees Celsius) reading in two Arizona communities on Friday that smashed the highest March temperature recorded in the U.S. Two places in Southern California also hit that same temperature. All four spots are clustered within about 50 miles (80.5 kilometers) of each other.

“This is what climate change looks like in real time: extremes pushing beyond the bounds we once thought possible,” said University of Victoria climate scientist Andrew Weaver. “What used to be unprecedented events are now recurring features of a warming world.”

March’s heat would have been virtually impossible without human-caused climate change, according to a report Friday by World Weather Attribution, an international group of scientists who study the causes of extreme weather events.

More than a dozen scientists, meteorologists and disaster experts queried by The Associated Press put the March heat wave in a kind of ultra-extreme classification with such events as the 2021 Pacific Northwest heat wave, the 2022 Pakistan floods and killer hurricanes Helene, Harvey and Sandy.

The area of the U.S. being hit by extreme weather in the past five years has doubled from 20 years ago, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Extremes Index, which includes various types of wild weather, such as heat and cold waves, downpours and drought.

Borenstein, the king “journalist” of global warming hysteria. He’s been writing columns about it for years (decades?).

It has been cold and rainy here in Northern VA the last week. A couple of days the high didn’t even reach 60.

Maybe the solution to this con is not to argue with the true believers but mock them and laugh in their face!

That's what I do all the time.

Meanwhile, at Reagan Airport in DC a couple of weeks ago the record for high temperature was broken by a degree. The previous record was set in, wait for it, 1877.

It is snowing in the Souther Sierra Nevadas today. So much for record highs.

I was sitting in the third row in a small venue in Charlestown, West Virginia Sunday night watching Robert Earl Keen and his band perform. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. His voice was strong, but he sure looked feeble.

And we had a very cool April and may

Much like the story where we are told of melting glaciers in Antarctica but some resist 😂

Arizona had rain and cool but not any cold this winter, with one early hot spell……but April and May were not hot. ..,temperatures in Nay are almost all under 100 degrees, and 100 degrees in dry Phoenix feels like 85 degrees where it is humid. Overnight lows have gone up faster than daytime highs, but just outside urban areas that Democrats wanted, ie high density instead of “ sprawl”, once the sun goes down, it cools quickly. They take temperatures in Phoenix at the ever expanding asphalt Coverdale massive Sky Harbor international airport. Phoenix could get rid of Sky Harbor by splitting into two airports just outside the city, both SE of Queen Creek and NW of Sun City and drop temperature in Phoenix center by 2 degrees .
Predictions are for a wet cooler summer in Phoenix. It was 117-118 degrees in 1989 when I first stepped foot in Phoenix over July 4 th weekend. It was 104 degrees at the end of September when I moved to Phoenix …..& my first summer here was 1989, when it hit 120 degrees—- …nothing worse than that since. In 2020, I played golf in August……and it only was 87 degrees in east Mesa where I played……….but I have played golf in 118 degree heat, too and did fine………just took it slow, cooled off after the round in the bar restaurant at the course and had lunch and a beer.
It snowed last week in Colorado.

We’re currently on vacation in Mission Beach, California, but when I checked my weather app, it was in the high 90s in the Phoenix area. That’s nothing new & hardly worth a news report.

Climate Change... or El Nino? Weeks ago it was reported that we were going to see a very strong El Nino this year. But yeah, I’m sure AlGore and the climate charlatans will seize upon this.
