JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A mother was arrested for D.U.I. after driving 120 miles per hour on I-10 with her three-year-old in the back seat, says the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
According to JSO, an officer pulled over the mother after seeing her drive 120 miles per hour on I-10. The officer enlisted the help of D.U.I. Officer Ernesto Valerio after he smelled marijuana in the car.
An investigation determined that the mother was driving under the influence and found a lit marijuana joint and several empty bottles of alcohol after searching the car. Her three-year-old was in the backseat.
In the body cam footage posted on JSO’s social media, Officer Valerio asks the mother, “You think that’s a safe way of driving with him?”
JSO says that the mother was supposedly driving fast so she could get to her 10-year-old son, who was left at home.
The mother was arrested for D.U.I. and violating Florida’s Super Speeder law, which makes it a crime to go more than 100 miles per hour.

Poor child. He is probably in great turmoil right now. My heart breaks.
Odd how the name and any description of the arrestee is missing not only in this article, but 10 others. Super speeder privilege?
It’s not up to them. There are other cars on the road
Her reply....
“Driving drunk stresses me out. Smoking pot mellows me out.” So it’s a wash.”
My Maserati does 185.😀
Lol. I have a 2004 Mazda B2300 truck with a 4 cylinder 5 speed manual tranny. It tops out at 87 mph.
The fastest I ever went in a car was 140 mph in a ‘68 AMX. Never wanted to do that again.
If she were in California, especially if she were an illegal, nothing would have happened to her and her car returned - illegals need their cars to get to work and to get the kids to school.
Of course pot is legal in California, so that is of no issue.
Yeah, but then she was throwin the empty bottles back there next to 'em.
I’m not going to say I never hit 120 mph on I10 at night in between Lake City and Orange Park heading home for Christmas but the road was deserted, no kid in the back and I was sober as a judge. When you just bought a 5 spd Mercedes that little gremlins on your shoulder says “top it out. Just for a minute”. 😉
👍
most all cars will hit 120 today, offhand I cannot think of any that will not.
I was driving somewhere in “fly over” country last year and averaged 136 over a 6 hour stretch
Cost me $250!................
😮
It was a ‘73 Buick Century, 350 ci, French’s Mustard Yellow.
I miss that car!.............
At that time the speed limit was "reasonable and proper".
It could have easily done 160, but at 150 MPH the rear end was lifting and dancing around a little, it had no wing or spoiler to hold it down.
I didn’t know all the little cars since the politics took over were still 120mph power houses.
With a Mercedes or a nice car it is easy to get way up there, my noisy beaters without A/C sounded like they were doing 150 although I was only going 80 or 90, when I drove my girlfriend’s Lexus it was so quiet and pleasant inside that going 100 seemed normal and I had to rely on cruise control a lot to keep from creeping up to that (in California where speed limits are still mostly 70).
Correct. Things happen quickly at speed. Recently sold a new Corvette, largely because I was doing stupid things with it. Saw 150 on several occasions. Knew there’d be an end, and it wouldn’t be pretty. Amazing, but deadly…
They don’t make em like they used to. I had two Mercedes sport sedans. Both gray market 190E, 6 spd, 16 valve with the spoiler on the back. The first was a 1986 that I got through a friend who was a car dealer.
I totalled it in an accident ( not my fault) and I was so upset about it he searched around and found another one up in Ohio and got it for me. It was a 1985. They all come in that gun metal gray. I had it painted lacquer black with red pin stripes. I ran Pirelli’s on the front and Yokahamas on the rear. I think it topped out at 160 but I never went over 120. In Germany they called it a Bahn burner.
Every guy in Atlanta wanted to buy that car from me. And finally sold it to a 17 year old kid and bought a 2000 Honda CRV. 😉
Did you give him a bottle of Jack Daniels to go with it?..............
