Star Wars Franchise Faces Reckoning as ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ on Track to LOSE Money
Economic collapse ^ | 5-25-26 | Isaac Graham

Comparisons to “Solo” are particularly telling. That film disappointed in 2018, yet current adjusted figures show “The Mandalorian and Grogu” falling short even of that benchmark. International totals hover around $63 million for the opening, insufficient to guarantee profitability without exceptional word-of-mouth.

With theaters demanding their cut, breaking even requires the film to approach half a billion worldwide—a tall order given current trajectories.

At least they have a fleet of very expensive cruise ships

Remember the recent cruise where they boarded the passengers then canceled the cruise and threw them off with a "your own your own to find somewhere to sleep in Singapore.

Cruise with Disney at your own risk.

If their estates would allow it (and why not its $$$!) you will see AI resurrecting the images of dead and long dead actors doing new films. I imagine film financiers & producers are salivating at the idea!

Yeah, in China, the black stormtrooper— I forget his unmemorable name, they cut out his face and put on the ball robot Bb8. The Chinese don’t want to see movies with black folks. Hey, I never watched “ Black Panther,” or “blackuka.” They don’t care about my sh@& and I don’t care about theirs.

CG, AI and other digital tools taking over for human actors is more than likely going to become the norm......

It doesn't help that some kid sitting at home feeding prompts into a computer is blowing the doors off Disney's so called "imagineers" in creating new fantasy worlds.

50 years of the franchise, and Disney is destroying it. We are seeing James Bond is likely to suffer the same fate with Jeff Bezos and his newspaper helping.

hollywood would love to find a chinese leading man that people could stand to watch.

Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan were enjoyable to watch. Not there to fill a quota, but because of merit.

The Mandalorian is played by John Waynes’ grandson. Pascal is the voice actor and is only on screen when the helmet is off. That’s the way the series was.
Reviews say the movie has a bad script. If it comes out for free I might watch it.

The Last Jedi was the last straw for me. Since then apart from commenting on threads like this the franchise has been dead to me. That was 8 years ago now and nothing they do interests me. This could be the biggest thing ever and I still wouldn’t go but it’s not just Star Wars it’s everything coming out of Hollyweird these days. I’m just here for the odd witty comment.

Episode VIII was so bad I can no longer stomach any of it — even the good ones like episodes IV and V.

That $21.75 million in subsidies from the California Film Commission to film in Los Angeles just got poured down a rat hole.

If you haven’t seen “Blackua” you haven’t lived! If I recall correctly these was also a “Die Blacula Die” sequel (if not, there certainly should have been). I believe those movies were a bit of the gory side for the times.

It would have done better after the 1st season, as a bridge to the 2nd season. 2nd season capped the story. 3rd beat it into the ground, along with the Boba Fett spin off. I mean I’m going to see it in an hour, cause I’m a nerd. But my expectations are low, I know they’re already out of story. But I’ll enjoy SW on the big screen, like always, even if it’s not good.

Funny that I developped the same allergy, only for this Star Wars franchise and not for e.g. The Terminator.
It must be the Disney queer kiss of death or something.
