World Cup fans are banned from bringing in pre-revolutionary Iran flags and apparel to stadiums this summer — while the controversial Palestinian flag will be allowed.
FIFA has ruled items with the symbolism will not be permitted at this year’s iteration of the globe’s most-famous soccer tournament, The Athletic reported on Tuesday.
FIFA says the flag violates their code of conduct, which states “banners, flags, fliers, apparel and other paraphernalia, that are of a political, offensive and/or discriminatory nature” will not be allowed at event venues.
The Palestinian flag is an “officially approved flag of a member association of FIFA,” The Athletic reported.
Emel Karsaz, an Iranian living in Los Angeles who describes herself as a Iranian-American advocate for freedom in Iran, told The California Post on Tuesday that she’s not expecting FIFA’s ban to change much.
She said she believes the Iranian soccer team “is basically representing IRGC” and “not representing people,” and she’s anticipating Iranians to show up to matches with the pre-revolutionary flags en masse.
“I’m sure it’s going to make everyone so angry that I’ll bet you anything there’s going to be a huge protest,” she said.
“The Iranians will do anything in their power to basically come and do the protest and tell the world that they are not our team.”

Because the CIA and MI6 got him back in. That's the point of the coup. Without them, he was out of power, abdication or not.
Again?
So you're claiming Operation Ajax didn't happen?
Well, that's just embarrassing for you.
Somebody will bring them in anyway. Especially in LA. What are they going to do about it?
Yes, he did.
But somehow our cia was so distracted by communism that they missed the rise of islamism.
On the other hand, the world today is probably according to their playbook. Btw, the bushes can all suck bully sticks.
I guess you didn’t watch the video. I guess you don’t want to learn.
Some people are so locked into their position that they simply cannot be moved off their beliefs. No amount of factual evidence matters.
Yeah, I'm literate and not sitting through someone's video.
In that case, you can read about it here:
Looking forested to your next excuse.
“Do you think:
1. Mosaddeq was within his constitutional powers to call for new elections?
2. The vote was in fact 99.99% in favor of dissolution of Iran’s government?
3. The Shah could not constitutionally dismiss the prime minister?
I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.”
I think you misdirected this post.
I thought so, but it was addressed to me.
