Iran attacks cargo ship in Strait of Hormuz
NY Post ^ | 5/03/26 | Ronny Reyes

A cargo ship was struck by multiple small craft while sailing near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, UK military officials said.

The ship, which was not immediately identified, was hit right off the coast of Sirik, Iran, just east of the strait, according to the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre.

All crew members were reported safe, with no group immediately claiming responsibility for the attack.

Iran’s military, however, has repeatedly warned any ship that tries to navigate the strait would be attacked unless they pay a toll and prove they are not affiliated with the US or Israel.

The vessel was heading north into the Persian Gulf — not trying to exit it.

There have been at least two dozen attacks in and around the Strait of Hormuz since the war with Iran began, with Sunday’s strike marking the first since April 22.

Tehran has effectively shut down the key oil chokepoint with repeated attacks and threats on cargo ships and tankers that tried to sail through.

Despite the US and Israel sinking Iran’s navy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps maintains a fleet of small patrol boats along the strait.

No. We can’t.
If we could, why is the price of refined product affected by what happens in the Strait of Hormuz?

Saw later articles where the Navy denies the vessel was struck - searches didn’t turn up any credible evidence to debunk the Navy’s claim.

From the UAE, FWIW...

https://gulfnews.com/uae/iranian-drones-attack-adnoc-tanker-in-strait-of-hormuz-1.500528456

Allegedly attacked by two drones, no injuries reported.

Nothing about any damage.

Hmmmmm...

Per AI, so another FWIW...

“Armed Personnel: Reports indicate that armed guards are employed on ADNOC vessels to counter risks, including potential skirmishes with small skiffs, such as a reported incident south of Yemen.”

If so, and said personnel did indeed deal with the alleged drones...

Well done!

We should be shipping in firearms and ammo for the Immortal Guard and citizens to take on the IRGC.

Assuming such a group actually exists. To this point, they seem like nothing more than a pipe-dream.

Das Schadenfreude :)

I got paid to fill up both Tesla today. Power is negative right now I am filling both Tesla and all my Powerwalls too.

But EV bad bros, right well given that my Model 3 cost less than the S60 Volvo it replaced it’s been cheaper since mile one.

It takes 250 wh / mi so 1 kWh sends it 4 miles. Retail power is 9 cents per kWh I don’t pay that I have a VPP and get wholesale power to and from the grid with panels feeding the outbound side.

9 cent power is equal to 67 cents per gallon gasoline must be less than that price in a 28 mpg Volvo to equal the same cost per mile as 9 cents per kWh.

Grob Schadenfreude!

Enjoy the suck ICE bros you deserve it. We laughing all the way to the bank.

Scroll down the prices are near the bottom. West Texas wind is sharply negative today and solar is being curtailed to not push spinning inertia off the grid. We dropped a nuke yesterday it’s still off line so synchronous wind turbines and gas turbines are the bulk inertia today.

https://www.ercot.com/gridmktinfo/dashboards

https://www.ercot.com/content/cdr/html/real_time_system_conditions.html

Only 8934 MW is being not covered by solar & wind today out of 53,000+ MW of demand that’s 83% solar and wind today. Luddites said impossible the power industry said get the F out of our way.

Texas is a 100% for profit grid bid on 15 minute rolling auctions 24/7 with 100% GOP control of all three branches of Texas government for 20+ years so the GOP is the reason we have ERCOT at all.

US oil production- barrels per day - 13.4 million
US refinery capacity- barrels per day- 18.4 million
US consumption- barrels per day- 20.4 million

We produce 66% of what we use.
We refine 85% of what we use

Draw your own conclusions- I think we need way more production and
refining capacity.

Hard to understand why we’re exporting crude when we need it here.
