Would communism or socialism work if it were not ruined by capitalism?

I think People will risk their lives some day soon, smuggling books like the original “Animal Farm” and “1984” because of this movie’s sort of Memory Hole.

Alas, that’s also when we find out noone reads books anymore.

We made our education and entertainment industries into a Fahrenheit 451 live mechanism.

So, “Animal Farm” gets the “1984” treatment.

Hollywood would film a version of The Diary of Anne Frank as an anti-Isreali, pro-Arab screed.

Executive Producer: “ Woody Harrelson“

Just ask him. That pig will tell you that he IS more equal than others.

Communism works. It’s a perfect system. But in the past a few mistakes were made while implementing it. This time it will be different.

- Says every socialist. But of course it will never “be different”.

Euphoria, followed by shortages, followed by mass repression and firing squads.
Same as it always was.

One can almost hear Orwell — who nearly died in Spain fighting against the very ideological forces his book exposed — rotating in his grave at Sutton Courtenay.

Orwell fought WITH the socialists/anarchists in Spain. Franco was not a commie. It is true that Orwell saw that capitalism was exploitative, and "Animal Farm" did have socialists and capitalists celebrating and working together. But that is not what the book is about. The book was about both systems decaying into tyranny (from the animals' point of view).

“To tell Orwell’s story faithfully is to tell a story about the failure of the left’s foundational political project.”

I expect this $35MM estimated budget film will be a BIG BIG box office smash.

Typically, studios receive about 50-60% of domestic box office earnings. With an average ticket price of about $15, to break even this movie needs to sell 4,666,666 tickets.

Piece a cake….Lots of people will flock to it. Especially conservatives.

…do I really need the /s tag?

Good.

Let them waste their money on expensive, re-written, “woke” Hollywood productions that no one will see.

Orwell had no family members left to stop this? Is it out of copyright?

It’s Angel Studios.

I’d take a more in-depth look.

I would be amazed if the movie trashes capitalism.

I was going to see it because I liked the book. Now that they have turned around its message you could not pay me to watch it.

So 77 years after Orwell depicted totalitarians revising history in “1984”, Hollywood Leftists are “revising” “Animal Farm” to invert the meaning for their propagandistic purposes. Is this ironic, depressing, unsurprising, or all of these?

The movie business is capitalist from soup to nuts, yet Hollywood hates its money-grubbing, amoral, ruthless self. Those who want to work in “the industry” have to sell out their “artistic genius”. So sad.

For what it’s worth, Orwell was (obviously) Anti-Communist and penned two satirical anti-Communist masterpieces, but he remained a supporter of “Democratic Socialism” (i.e. Euro-style welfare state model) and an internationalist throughout his life. Orwell was never a conservative in either the US sense (capitalist) or the European sense (nationalist).
