Congressman Eric Swalwell’s senior staff have said they are “horrified” by sexual misconduct allegations made against him.
“As leaders of teams working for Eric Swalwell, we’re horrified by the recent reporting in the San Francisco Chronicle and by CNN,” a statement signed by staffers for Swalwell’s 14th congressional district and the “Eric Swalwell for Governor 2026” campaign read on Saturday, April 11. “We stand with our former colleague, and the other women who have come forward. We believe you should stand with them, too.”
His staff went on, “The behavior detailed in these reports is abhorrent, beneath the dignity of those serving in public office and betrays the trust of all Californians.”
Despite their condemnation of the Democratic representative, his staffers addressed why they cannot necessarily quit their jobs at this time.
“We also understand that we lead teams who need guidance and stability now, more than ever. We are focused on supporting our colleagues during this challenging time,” they said in a joint statement. “Any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell. We recognize that not everyone — in particular our junior staff — can immediately forfeit their income and benefits without significant personal risk or consequence. Our responsibility now is to them.”

The money for the governors race will dry up right away. Congressional senior staffers are likely on hard money and probably have resumes sent out..

They stay because Slawell is STAYING in Congress. This is because forcible rape is NOT a crime worthy of removal from Congress, but it is not acceptable for being governor.

I believe all of this was well known before Swawell decided to run for governor of California. The Fang-Fang situation certainly was and nothing happened to him - which I believe wouldn’t have been the case with a Republican.
Swawell must have pissed someone off for this to come out now.
Maybe to eliminate him so Tom Steyer will have a chance.
People who would stoop so low as to pin their and their family’s livelihoods on promoting absolute earth filth such as Swalwell deserve the worst themselves.
Didn’t the women working for Swalwell know he was a hound? Wouldn’t other women have warned the young and naive staffer to be careful, to not let yourself be alone with him? If not, they aided ad abetted his depredations.
California has a system where the top two finishers, regardless of political party, face off in the general election. Before all of this Swalwell controversy broke, the two Republican candidates where leading in the polls.
This assassination of Swalwell by the Democrats is a sign that they are panicking about being locked out of the Governors race. With Swalwell out of the way they are hoping that one of the other Democrat candidates will pick up enough votes to advance to the general election.
As Tessio said in the Godfather “It’s nothing personal, just business”.
Swalwell has a whole staff of them little red riding hood handmaidens we always see galivanting around with nothing to do.
Story this morning on Axios is that 21 former endorsers - including multiple House members and both California senators - have all pulled their endorsements. So quick to dump him!!! One must suspect that they ALL believe the accusations and ALL know him well enough to know they are true! So much filth in the Dem ranks.
it appears senior campaign staff may no longer be focused on getting Swalwell elected, but instead are busy holding hands of the “junior” staffers, who presumable aren’t doing any campaigning either ...
if true, it seems like Swalwell should fire the lot of them, though he probably can’t because they’d all go rushing to the nearest media outlets for a bazillion “tell-all” interviews ... so sounds like his staff is essentially extorting him to keep paying them for doing nothing until he finally withdraws from the race: and THEN they can tell all!
i’m sure Swalwell’s [former] donors are just loving how their money is being spent!
