Savannah Guthrie’s ailing 84-year-old mom likely suffered a fatal medical episode during her kidnapping — and her greedy captors were forced to dump her body because she was no longer “of value” to them once dead, according to a cold-case expert.
The kidnappers likely “underestimated” how fragile Nancy Guthrie’s health was when they carried out their sickening money grab, Brian Martin, an Indiana detective who specializes in cold cases, told NewsNation’s Brian Entin.
That left them forced to scrap their ransom plan and get rid of her body when things went “sideways” with the “Today” show host’s mom, who had a slew of major health issues, the detective suggested.
“What really bothers me is if they underestimated Miss Guthrie’s health and thought, ‘Well, we’ll take her, this will be easy. We’ll hold on to her at an unknown location for a day or two. We’ll get some money out of this and we’ll leave her in a Walmart parking lot,’” Martin said.
“And what they had to do is … it sounds horrible…. They had to dispose of Miss Guthrie because she was no longer of value to them in that monetary gain that they’re hoping to get,” Martin said.
Guthrie vanished from her home in Tucson, Arizona, 67 days ago and has not been seen or heard from since.

It may take years, but it seems likely that eventually someone will talk.
That’s the kind of democrat filth that routinely gets elected in Tucson/Pima County.
Yep. They didn’t think it through. She was old and in fragile health.
“Cases like this always rely on tips.”
i watch a lot of real-life crimes shows: VERY educational!
and tips, cams, FLOCK, DNA/CODIS and/or fingerprints/AFIS-NGI are the starting point of pretty much all successfully solved major crimes; when NONE of the above is present, then the crimes almost always go unsolved ... period ...
most violent criminals are stupid and/or impulsive, so it’s shear luck when they aren’t caught ... occasionally, stupid LEOs are are the reason they aren’t caught, though it’s actually surprising how many rural LEOs are very capable of utilizing the latest detective tools ... very occasionally, violent crimes are committed by smart professionals who don’t get caught ... white collar crimes, of course, are a whole nother ball of wax ...
“Most of the criticism was just petty”
I guess you missed these little details:
With his work history, resume under scrutiny, Sheriff Nanos to provide report to Pima County Board of Supervisors
Not to mention he is the subject of a recall due to a vote of no confidence from the Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies Association.
apparently it was well-documented BEFORE this kidnapping that this Sheriff is a bozo ...
There are cameras all over. Cell phones, cars and trucks that can be located. It’s hard to believe they have zero idea of who grabbed the mother.
Yeah. That’s the one. Seems to be fake. Story made for some TV personality. Lost interest long ago.
I didn’t miss anything. The subject I addressed was the Guthrie case.
I can't imagine that a Mexican cartel either needs the money or wants the spotlight shone on them.
My guess is that it was a pair of lone wolves who thought they could get away with something. The fatal flaw in that thinking is that afterward, they can't hide their sudden wealth and spending, and that alone would draw suspicion towards them.
But then, we wouldn't be talking about very smart people.

Kind of could make sense.
I still have my suspicions about these offspring, though.
Granted, I really haven’t delved into this case much so don’t know much of what has or hasn’t happened.
Yes, I don’t trust this whole thing. As if she’s such a notable that it would make everyone thrill to it. It did - but she’s NOT a true “notable”. Never heard of her until this.
Well they knew they were kidnapping an 84 yr old seriously what did they expect when they went into her house at 2 in the morning, for her to jump out of bed and say “Awesome you’re here lets go” I still believe that the son in law is involved, this was always about money. Just wait til they declare her dead and see who wants to cash in first
The Sheriff is a big time Dem, Mark Kelly called him and told him to zip it on the family and thus the cover up started
“And what they had to do is … it sounds horrible…. They had to dispose of Miss Guthrie because she was no longer of value to them in that monetary gain that they’re hoping to get,” Martin said.

I figure the poor lady ended up in some hog farm south of the border
This was a FALSE FLAG gone bad, orchestrated to mimic an ICE raid replete with "masked man", etc.. Remember the DemonRats and their warning of 'masked men coming to your house and taking you in the middle of the night' narrative?
Analyzing Sheriff Nanos' actions/behavior following this event is KEY in solving this crime. HE WAS INVOLVED !!. Explain the TOTAL SILENCE OF ARIZONA SENATOR MARK KELLY AND ARIZONA GOVERNOR KATIE HOBBS, HMMMMMM??? THEY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.. MASSIVE COVER-UP, INCLUDING STONE-WALLING THE FBI AND LEAVING THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE WIDE OPEN INCLUDING THE FRONT DOOR MAT IN PLACE FOR ANYONE TO CONTAMINATE.
Remember the FAKE kidnapping plot involving Gretchen Whitmer? NOW YOU'RE THINKING !!!!
If, as seems reasonable, she died soon after the incident began, the sheriff should have been looking for a corpse. If it’s nearby, evidence might now be degraded or gone. Perps more likely to get away with the crime.
Not their last crime, but it could have been.
So sorry to see something like this happening. Guess it was all about money. The only answer I see to situations like this will be the Lord’s swift return. That will be the biggest eye-opener this planet has ever known
