Do you truly understand what Japan just gained? As a Japanese citizen, I’m telling you—this moment changed history.
Trump's Pearl Harbor joke wasn't an insult. It was the key that finally unlocked something buried deep in the Japanese soul.
For 80 long years, we've carried apology and guilt like a permanent shadow—haunted by the past, bound by the Constitution America wrote for us, forever in "reflection mode." He turned that raw wound into a shared laugh between equals.
No more endless atonement. No more vassal shadow.
The curse is broken. Japan is free now.
Thank you, Mr. President. We're allowed to stand tall again—as true partners, not subordinates. The strongest alliance in the world is rising—equals, brothers, ride-or-die.

ransomnote: Here is the moment in which Trump jokingly asked a Japanese reporter, "Why didn't you tell us about Pearl Harbor?" and said he thought the Japanese know a lot about surprises.

THE MOMENT THAT CHANGED THE COURSE OF HISTORY...😎🇺🇸🇯🇵🤣🤣🤣March 30
“I haven’t tried it with women like that but the married men should give it shot.”
Are you trying to get some men killed?
I am amazed at the perspicacity of so many freepers, who know the postwar mind of the Japanese so much better than the Japanese themselves. How was I so lucky as to discover so much hidden genius right here on this humble forum.
My friends the Japanese see themselves as a victim of the war.
I agree 100%.
Wonderful comment.
And it put our wonderful alliance with Japan in a distinct historical context. We did our nest to preserve Japan and aid Japan in rebuilding after WWII.
Its a message also to Iran. They can have a brilliant future if they will only reach out and seize it.
That top one is a keeper !
We cover it all the time so I hope our American friends can appreciate it.
Great point. And another good reason for Western powers to not underestimate the Japanese.
Thanks for that! Will check them out in the morning.
Lol
Thank you for the information.
Bill Halsey thought otherwise and got his carriers out to sea on a resupply mission. Halsey knew or suspected what was coming and had his ships on wartime alert conditions.
There were other warnings. The German Abwehr sent a spy, Dusko Popov to the US. Part of his assignment included finding out the details of Pearl Harbor's defenses.
Popov contacted the FBI and offered to become a double agent. Although he reported the intended attack on Pearl Harbor in August of 1941, there is no record of action by Hoover.
This response is useful, thank you for putting a source to my post.
Maybe America's only true friend.
For comparison: SOME Germans still feel pings of shame. But not many, and not much. They have long moved on. And they don’t really like us much anymore.
“Whatever you do...don’t mention the war!”

It was from the heart.
As I was watching her, with Trump... I couldn't help but notice her name: Takaichi.
That is the same surname of one of my favorites. The man who was the President of our Japanese affiliate when I first went there. I admired him.
He was 20 years my elder. When he was a young salesman, he achieved 100% market share in Japan, and they made him President. I always joked with my German bosses, that when I achieved 100% market share in the US, they should make me President! I got close, but never 100%
Takaishi-san was a gentleman. A good golfer, and a fine baritone when singing karaoke. He was such a mentor to me.
Japan is no equal to the US. We have MANY advantages over them. But they are loyal partners. I'd take them any day over the Europeans, who I also know... very well.
LOL Most Germans get ANGRY if you mention the war. Tell one how much you love George Patton and see if they remain your friend! LOL
