Oops. Forgot to mention it has eight slots on the rail.
I have an Ultimak Picattiny rail that replaced the upper handguard. It works just fine with a long eye relief scope or a red dot, and if you’re concerned with such things, actually looks good.

I shoot my dad’s M1 carbine sighted spot on at a hundred yards using open sights. How far out do you want to shoot a 30cal round? Just wondering why you’d want a scope on an M1.
