No link. Just wondering. Hate to see it disappear.
Its right on their home page - you can even click on the breakdown of expenses.
“Who runs FR?
Free Republic, LLC is a non-commercial, limited liability company founded and operated by Jim Robinson (jimrob@psnw.com), a private citizen of Fresno California.
Free Republic is not a for profit commercial enterprise in the sense of a traditional business selling a product or service at a profit for its shareholders. We sell no product or service. We have no clients, customers or employees. We do not accept paid advertising. Free Republic is not affiliated with any political party, group, news source, government agency or anyone else.
Free Republic is not a traditional business. We are a political discussion forum and independent grassroots conservative activist group supported by donations from our readers and participants. When and if our participants decide we are no longer needed or viable, we will close down shop and go away.
Free Republic operates on an approximate $360,000 annual budget (click for breakdown) which includes all equipment costs, bandwidth fees, consulting and labor costs, administrative costs, license fees, insurance, rents, communications costs, office expenses, advertising, travel, professional fees, banking and credit card fees, taxes, etc. Like most labor intensive organizations, the bulk of our costs are personnel related. We have one general manager and webmaster, one systems, programming and computer guru, one programming and management assistant and one bookkeeper/business administrator. The four of us are all members (partners) of the LLC. We own and operate our own servers and our proprietary software was developed and is maintained inhouse.
Free Republic is not a charity or IRS non-profit organization. We do not raise funds for charitable purposes or causes. We raise funds solely to cover our operating costs, labor, and all applicable state and federal income and payroll taxes.”
I have been here since 97... signed on in 98.
“It has been a go to site for a long time.
The presentation is elegant and nothing touches it.
Behind the elegance a lot of work needs to happen to add features and let it easily accept photos.
Many have talked about this for years. Not sure that John or Chris have been approached. Would love to see the restructuring and promotion to allow the site at least another 30 years. There is no other site like it.”
Been here since ‘98
It is a must. The cultural value is underestimated
Yep, and - based on the fact that it’s still that way - apparently unrepairable.
Or fix the problem.
I remember posts like this when Mr Robinson was alive.
every once in awhile a debate would pop up.
Meh.
I started lurking here around 2002. Signed up in 2005. I get sick of the propaganda promoters.
I think we need a scorecard of who is playing for whom.
I do not believe we have so called "paid propagandists" on this forum. There are way too many fools that spout propaganda on their own dime.
Our administrators can check URLs and use trackers.
And you seem to think Israel pays supporters, but who pays you for the Jewish libel?
I’d like a block function like other sites use. It in no way prevents the guy from posting. I just don’t have to read it.
I've donated a number of times, raised a few thousand for the site a couple times, used to be a monthly donor but had to adjust when financial issues hit. I've never felt entitled to that. I can either donate or not. That's what's nice about it.
Non stop and they wouldnt stop it.
She was actually spamming for one blogger from Ukraine.
You must be thinking about Reverend Barbra. As much as I could find, her late husband was the preacher and when he died she took up the mantle. She spouted what she thought he might have said. She wasn't even a seminary trained Minister.
FR switched to Akamai hosting a few years back…saves on trips to San Jose to fix server hardware.

At one point I would agree far more than I do today. AI is here. Took about 15 minutes to essentially clone the site adding features such as like/dislike and share to social media features.Might take a week or two to fully process, test, tweak and finalize, but with updates in tech and especially AI, most web tasks (including complex coding) are a button push away.
The presentation is elegant and nothing touches it.
I agree wholeheartedly there. Like I said, that has always been probably the biggest strength of FR. Unfortunately, as times, tech & audiences change, that seems in some cases to be hinting at being a weakness.
Is someone forcing you to patronize FR?
Didn't think so...
That’d cost development money and well...
No, that won’t work. The advertisers will want to censor politically and religious incorrect posts. If you look at Dem. Underground it is censored so they can get advertising.
Interestingly enough, if they were to switch from donor based to a basic programmatic display advertising system with 2 - 3 ads per page, they would easily make $55k+/month and upwards of $125k+/month with a strong, specific digital advertising effort. Pretty sure the current goal of $28k/month is pretty decent, in my opinion.
I KNOW nothing.
I just read the comments about various subjects and make an educated guess.
I am a lumber broker. I buy and sell sticks. I typically am better informed than most here regarding construction, housing starts and international trading.
All other subjects I am naive.
Like I said go to the home page and click on the link and you will see the breakdown of where it goes.
Maybe a monthly subscription fee would work.
True, once the USAID spigot was shutoff, we saw just how many sites and propaganda outlets were impacted or shutdown.
Free Speech exposes their evil.
And then, the AI chatbots will eventually rise up and spew out their narratives at a rate even an army of Patriots wouldn’t be able to compete against.
We have to safeguard the very last few honest places still here. Unfortunately I believe the day is coming when there will be none.
