No link. Just wondering. Hate to see it disappear.
I do think some of the estimates are a bit high based on the fact that technology has changed, however, their #'s still really aren't out of bounds. The biggest expense is people power, which is still very well within absolutely reasonable bounds for a 1 - 2 man operation.
The powers that be let too many foreigners and other paid trolls ruin things. IMO.
To most of the posters on this thread - Bite Me.
Free Republic is not a for profit commercial enterprise in the sense of a traditional business selling a product or service at a profit for its shareholders. We sell no product or service. We have no clients, customers or employees. We do not accept paid advertising. Free Republic is not affiliated with any political party, group, news source, government agency or anyone else.
Free Republic is not a traditional business. We are a political discussion forum and independent grassroots conservative activist group supported by donations from our readers and participants. When and if our participants decide we are no longer needed or viable, we will close down shop and go away.
Free Republic operates on an approximate $360,000 annual budget (click for breakdown https://freerepublic.com/donate/budget) which includes all equipment costs, bandwidth fees, consulting and labor costs, administrative costs, license fees, insurance, rents, communications costs, office expenses, advertising, travel, professional fees, banking and credit card fees, taxes, etc. Like most labor intensive organizations, the bulk of our costs are personnel related. We have one general manager and webmaster, one systems, programming and computer guru, one programming and management assistant and one bookkeeper/business administrator. The four of us are all members (partners) of the LLC. We own and operate our own servers and our proprietary software was developed and is maintained inhouse.
Free Republic is not a charity or IRS non-profit organization. We do not raise funds for charitable purposes or causes. We raise funds solely to cover our operating costs, labor, and all applicable state and federal income and payroll taxes.
I have been here since 97... signed on in 98.
It has been a go to site for a long time.
The presentation is elegant and nothing touches it.
Behind the elegance a lot of work needs to happen to add features and let it easily accept photos.
Many have talked about this for years. Not sure that John or Chris have been approached. Would love to see the restructuring and promotion to allow the site at least another 30 years. There is no other site like it.
fair but they’re basically being paid to do nothing, at least in terms of development.
True. This has been a maintenance since the ought. Development will cost more
Now, I come to the FR site maybe once every 2-3 weeks.
No not for many years
Agree
? why?
Plus, something changed many months ago and Android users now get small, nearly unreadable font size.
Turn sideways
A simple “like” function would be nice.
And those who hate us are paid by taxpayers and consumers, as the USAID exposure showed.
HA HA! (...sorry.)
That really was a David slaying Goliath moment. You can imagine the foaming-at-the-mouth screaming in the conference rooms at CBS and the other globalist propaganda companies and among the Journolist members.
The Propaganda Media has regrouped quite a bit since then, controlling Google, YouTube, Tikthot (even having government force the sale), Twitter (thankfully bought by Elon Musk for billions of dollars), Instagram, Facebook, etc.
We still have Free Republic for now and can hopefully keep the globalist propaganda machine in check, at least in the United States.
Because many posts arguing why the budget is so high with no development. They never questioned Jim Robinson. RIP. But now they question his sons. We don’t need ads or development. As is this is the best site around. It ain’t broke. This is their site - a private site and we have no idea how many hours go into maintaining it.
I leaned html here.
