Cesar Chavez is disappearing across California.
Statues are coming down, street names are being stripped, and murals are being covered up in a rapid-fire backlash against the once-revered labor leader, as officials move to distance public spaces from a legacy now under scrutiny.
In San Fernando, a statue of Cesar Chavez was removed Thursday, while at Santa Ana College, murals and other campus imagery bearing his likeness have been covered. In Fresno, city leaders unanimously voted to strip Chavez’s name from a major boulevard, restoring its original designation, a dramatic reversal of a tribute that once symbolized pride in the civil rights icon.
Symbols that once cemented Chavez’s status as a civil rights hero are being dismantled piece by piece — following stunning allegations that he raped and molested two girls beginning at the age of 12 and raping his longtime ally, Dolores Huerta.
From city halls to college campuses, what was once celebrated in bronze, painted on walls, and stamped onto street signs is now under review, with more institutions expected to follow suit.
For decades, Chavez was widely celebrated as the co-founder of the United Farm Workers, a labor movement icon who championed the rights of farmworkers and became a symbol of Latino political empowerment.
But newly surfaced allegations about his sexual misconduct have prompted public officials to reconsider decades of honors tied to his name.
Across the state, officials cite community concerns and public accountability as reasons for removing statues, renaming streets, and covering murals.

I was not aware that they'd recommissioned that ship. Originally named the Harvey Milk in 2023, after the gay rights activist, it was renamed the Oscar V. Peterson, in honor of a Medal of Honor recipient who died in the Battle of the Coral Sea.
Outstanding! The left names a ship in honor of a pillow-biter. The right renames it in honor of someone who sacrificed everything for his country, not for his own deviant desires.
Chavez’ real crime was that he opposed illegal immigration.
I wonder if Austin, Texas will get it’s First Street back? It was renamed “Cesar Chavez” several years ago.
And more than 50 years later, some people still believe there are only 15-20 million illegals here. That number is a joke.
They would still love him, but his lack of support for illegals finally caught up with him. The SAFE Act and ICE raids had to influence the demise of his hero status. Rapists and pedos are the commiecrat base, unless they aren’t open border supporters. Even Harvey Milk would be out if they ever uncover anything indicating he wasn’t a pure supporter of illegals or muzzies.

I was sick and tired of seeing his name displayed prominently all over Los Angeles and Universities in California - instead of honoring those who created and built these institutions- but then they are all dead White males and the lefties can’t have that.
Better to honor a non-White who “valiantly fought The Man against impossible odds” - turns out he was nothing more than a phony, fraud and rapist.

Here we go again. Maybe Chavez didn’t deserve the statues and memorials, but here we have another example of the Jacobin Left erasing history that no longer is politically correct. Get rid of Confederate statues. Get rid of memorials to Founding Father who owned slaves. Get Woodrow Wilson’s name off of Princton’s foreign affairs school. Get John Calhoun’s name off of everything. Now its their turn to get Chavez’s name off of everything.
