I remember McDonald’s used to have the best french fries around. Then they quit fixing them without beef tallow I haven’t eaten them in decades. They are horrible and tasteless but I have tried the fries at steak ‘n Shake and they’re good. I don’t like the shoe strings size, but they’re good nonetheless better in those cardboard sticks at McDonald’s.

Careful - not all “beef tallow” is the same - some of it is highly processed / loaded with chemicals - less healthy than using the vegetable oils. Verify what is meant by “fried with beef tallow”.

Our favorite steak house, Hydra in Sandpoint, Idaho uses beef tallow in their fryers. Damn, their fries are good. I usually order a New York peppercorn medium rare. Comes with haricot vert (green beans, for those of you in Rio Linda) and my choice of those wonderful fries. I wash it all down with a Mac ‘n Jack’s amber ale. We’re heading over this week to celebrate my 75th.
