I’m sure it will cost us more somehow.
Yep. Lenin had a phrase - “The worse, the better”. Democrats screw everything up, Republicans make damn sure it stays that way.
Connecticut doesn’t have anything IMPORTANT to do? Guess they need to do something important like securing votes so illegals won’t vote...
Gee. I wonder what problems the lawmakers see with self-checkout lanes? LOL. Hey Connecticut, between this an the CT living minimum wage, get ready for your grocery prices to spike by 20%.
Grocery stores operate on very tight margins, typically about 2%. Labor is the largest single cost so the Legislature, by adding to labor costs, will simply be increasing grocery prices. Of course they could emulate neighboring New York and force government run groceries. We all know how that will work out.
They’re already doing this in California b/c of so much theft via self-check out. Target limits self-check out to 10 items or fewer.
I prefer self-check out, I can bag my groceries better, faster and how I like them bagged - plus I rarely have to wait in line and deal with surly check-out clerks.
Although, here in NH & MA we have a company called Marketbasket owned by the Demoulas family. It is the best grocery chain in New England. They do not have ANY self checkout lanes. They also have a great profit sharing plan for their employees. To the point that many of their long time employees are millionaires from working in the meat department. They all wear name tags with how many years they have worked there. All the managers are 30+ years.
They are also the least expensive grocery store in the area with the exception of maybe Aldi. Marketbasket is also typically cheaper than Walmart. MB is much cheaper than Shaws or Hannaford. The other major New England grocery chains.
Except for the DMV and other government services transaction points.
I was able to return to one of my favorite small markets in California - Sprouts - when they added self-check out.
Before that, there were long lines, 1/2 way to the back of the store - often waits of 20 minutes or longer b/c there were never enough stands open. I stopped going.
After the self-check out lanes were put in, very few people used them, and I was able to get in and out in minutes.
Now unions are telling business how to run their business. Seems business needs to tell unions how run themselves.
I lived in Connecticut for two years. It was the most backward place I have ever been. They want to turn the clock back to 1950 and keep it there. It was just strange.
Because the law makers cannot figure out how to tap their card to finish the sale. LOL
These people are retarded.
Gee. IF they wanna “manage a business”, they should apply for the CEO’s job.
Where in the CT constitution, does it give these communist basstids the right to intimately manage businesses. “Constitution State”, my arse.
Lawmakers for sale. Get your fat lawmaker right here today! Not only can they be bought they can be had cheap. Never met an under the table bribe they didn’t like!
What will the next important thing on their lawmaking agenda be? I can’t imagine. Stand-by.
creating severe stress for employees who must manage several checkout lanes at once.

What I see is, that the checkout clerks have the best jobs!
Usually doing nothing, just occasionally checking ID’s or helping with the machine glitches.
I would say, that’s the least stressful job in the store!
Walmart. Richmond, Ca. I asked the lady in front of me why there are no self checkout lanes. Her response: “If they did they wouldn’t have a store”.
The market at work.
Yup, who cares consumers have to wait longer for checkout
Self-checkout in CT...a solution in need of a problem.
Check out lanes are for the poor. The uber rich get their groceries delivered to their car in the supermarket parking lot.
