Politicians aren’t “required” to pander, nor are they “controlled” when they do pander. Pandering is purely voluntary. If they didn’t want to do it to have power themselves and to affect policy according to their own philosophies, they would be in another line of business. No one is forced to run for office, and no one runs for office in order to be controlled- they run for office to have control, so they can promote their personal agendas, or because they enjoy it.
The whole idea that politicians are “controlled” against their will is utter nonsense.
