I think it will go down like this, SAVE ACT gets passed, Trump endorsed Cornyn, we God willing keep the Senate, Trump fires Bondi and appoints Paxton be AG..all in all not bad, not bad at all, Paxton would be an amazing AG
I’d be good with that. I wanted Paxton as AG from the start.
He posted his desire to endorse one of the two on Truth Social. His post received almost 8000 comments, and I did not see a single comment even neutral on Cornyn, everyone who replied urged him not to endorse Cornyn. Most of his posts garner between 2k-4k comments.

How is it that we keep getting these swampy AGs? Sessions, Barr, Bondi. When Dems get an AG, that AG would prosecute the pope if the Dems thought it was necessary.

I don’t know if Trump could seriously consider backing Cornyn rather than Paxton, who is far superior.
What “Trans issues”?
If it means getting voter ID and some of this trans issue crapped addressed, I would argue the trade is worth it. Especially if you consider Paxton could possibly replace Bondi as the AG.

I get the sentiment, but if it means getting SAVE done in time for 2026, or even 2028, it's worth it, IMHO.
If we get SAVE done, it's game over for the Democrats. So having Cornyn instead of Paxton, I'll take that deal. Damn good deal!

Cornyn and Thune do not just want Trump’s endorsement.
It’s their ONLY hope and that is just what it is, a hope.
Trump likes to win and endorsing Cornyn is 50/50 at best.
I don’t know that much about Paxton.
But his offer was a shrewd move.
It appealed to Trump because Trump is a businessman and most things to him boil down to transactional.
Paxton was saying I got some leverage here, what am I going to get for dropping out.
Trump said I got more leverage than Paxton and used it against Thune and Cornyn.
Bottom line is, why would he comply with Thune and endorse Cornyn if they both are more obstacles than facilitators in getting the MOST important piece of legislation passed in Trump’s two terms?
